A rare vintage Porsche 944 has just appeared in Ho Chi Minh City, the paint of the car is still quite new and impressive, the driver is the leading car collector in Vietnam as well as Asia with a fleet of nearly 800 cars - Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu. Interestingly, this is his second Porsche 944 and it will make many German sports car fans dislike it because it is a break from the original car. The history of this Porsche 944 is not unfamiliar to the players, it used to be yellow, black and then completely transformed when it was in the hands of "Qua" Vu.
In terms of design, the Porsche 944 stands out with its “frog-eye” headlights typical of sports cars of the 1980s and 1990s. When the lights are on, the headlights will lift up, and when they are off, they will be hidden. In this car, the original headlights have been replaced with round lights, and the rear of the car has also been remade in a different style. According to research, it is known that the change in the exterior of the car is to create a unique mark because Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu previously owned an original 944. The car's cockpit is re-covered in black leather, while the remaining details remain original. This Porsche 944 uses an automatic transmission.
The front windshield was now a recessed unit. The cookie cutter style wheels used on early 944s were upgraded to new dial style wheels (Fuchs wheels remained an option). The 1987 Porsche 944 Motronic DME was updated and introduced ABS and driver and front passenger airbags. The 944 Turbo was the first car to offer airbags as standard equipment, they were optional on other 944 models. With the addition of ABS, the wheel offset was changed to 52 mm and Fuchs wheels were no longer optional. During its production period, the Porsche 944 was classified as a high-performance sports car. The car was equipped with a 2.5L, 2.7L or 3.0L I4 engine, with an automatic or manual transmission, producing between 150 and 250 horsepower depending on the version.
Besides the performance factor, the Porsche 944 generation is considered to be much more practical than other sports cars of the same period thanks to the extended luggage compartment and the rear seats that can be used to store items. Video : See details of the 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S.
