The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just sent a document to agencies and units on organizing activities in response to World No Tobacco Day on May 31, National No Tobacco Week from May 25-31, 2025 and strengthening the enforcement of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms.
Accordingly, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) requires heads of affiliated agencies and units to disseminate and strictly direct the implementation of the provisions of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms; coordinate with the Trade Union and Youth Union to disseminate the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms to all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers at meetings at their agencies and units.
In addition, agencies and units need to include tobacco harm prevention and control in their annual work plans, include the regulation prohibiting smoking in the workplace in the internal regulations of the agency or unit; post no-smoking signs in areas with prohibition regulations according to the Law on Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control (workplaces, public places, airports, means of transport, etc.); integrate propaganda on the harmful effects of cigarettes/tobacco/electronic cigarettes/heated tobacco products in meetings, conferences, and seminars of agencies and units, etc.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also requires the inclusion of the no-smoking criterion at work in the emulation standards for officials, civil servants, public employees and workers of agencies and units; and there are forms of encouragement and rewards for individuals, agencies and units that do a good job of preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco.
“Leaders of agencies and units must set an example and require cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers of agencies and units not to smoke in the workplace and in places where smoking is prohibited,” the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam directed.
