Hai Duong opens lychee season: First batch of lychees exported to Australia and Japan

On the morning of May 30, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Duong coordinated with Thanh Ha district to organize the event "Hai Duong litchi season", a conference to promote the consumption of Thanh Ha litchi in 2025.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the lychee garden, Vice Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan said that Thanh Ha lychee is produced according to GAP process, meets export standards, has been certified with geographical indications, has a stamp of origin, has been voted and honored as "Quintessence of three-region specialties", Top 10 prestigious quality products, and is being considered by the Central Government for approval as a 5-star OCOP product.

In addition to organizing and implementing the production process well, Hai Duong province has done a good job of trade promotion, advertising, product introduction, trade connection and support to help ensure good quality of lychee.

The event "Hai Duong litchi season" will contribute to the consumption of Thanh Ha litchi in provinces and cities across the country and export to major markets such as Japan, the US, Australia, China... The event also honors the labor achievements of litchi farmers, with the hope of a good harvest and good price.

Currently, Thanh Ha litchi has begun to be harvested, with an expected output of about 38,000 tons (about 50% exported).

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to focus on guiding people in harvesting and supporting the consumption of lychees. Create the best possible conditions for businesses and traders to purchase and consume Thanh Ha lychees easily and conveniently; at the same time, call on traders, organizations, businesses, supermarket associations, trade centers, wholesale markets nationwide to visit and consume lychees in Hai Duong. Hai Duong provincial authorities are committed to creating the most favorable conditions in terms of administrative procedures, security and order, traffic, parking lots and related services for organizations and individuals coming to Hai Duong to consume lychees and agricultural products of the province.

Mr. Mai Xuan Thin, General Director of Red Dragon Company Limited - said that this year's fabric has higher quality, beautiful designs, and the company is ready to expand exports to Canada and the Middle East, in addition to traditional markets.

In addition to export activities, Hai Duong also combines tourism development to experience the lychee season. Lychee gardens in Thanh Ha and Chi Linh are open to visitors, allowing them to pick lychees on the spot and learn about the international standard production process.

According to some foreign trade counselors, Thanh Ha litchi is not yet imported much because the price is relatively high, from 600 to 700 VND/kg. Foreign trade counselors committed to providing detailed information about the market so that Hai Duong agricultural products, especially Thanh Ha litchi, can be consumed smoothly.

At the end of the conference, Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Hung Viet Agricultural Products, and Fusa Organic Agriculture signed a commitment to jointly consume Thanh Ha lychee with cooperatives with lychee in the district.

Currently, the whole province has 8,800 hectares of lychee with an expected harvest output of about 60,000 tons, of which about 32,500 tons are early lychees and about 27,500 tons are main-season lychees. Thanh Ha lychee output is about 38,000 tons (28,000 tons of early lychees and 10,000 tons of main-season lychees).

Lychees in Hai Duong are produced according to safe processes, 12 areas have been certified by GlobalGAP, 56 areas have been certified by VietGAP, with a total area of ​​721 hectares. The whole province has been granted 198 lychee growing area codes to serve export according to market requirements, of which Thanh Ha district has 167 codes; 16 lychee packaging facility codes for export, mainly concentrated in Thanh Ha.

According to preliminary statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the total purchasing capacity of facilities in the province reaches 650 tons/day, of which the capacity of lychee packaging facilities for export to the Japanese market reaches about 30 tons/day.
