5 new naturalized Malaysian players have just been approved by FIFA - Photo: FAM
Malaysia will face Vietnam at 8:00 p.m. today (June 10) at Bukit Jalil Stadium in the second match of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
Right before the match, the Malaysian team received the best news when their new naturalized players were officially approved by FIFA and ready to take the field to face the Vietnamese team.
These five new recruits are Facundo Garces (Argentine origin), Imanol Machuca (Argentina), Jon Irazabal (Spanish origin), Joao Figueiredo (Argentina) and Rodrigo Holgado (Brazil).
The most prominent is probably Facundo Garces when he plays for Deportivo Alaves in the Spanish National Championship (La Liga). At the same time, striker Rodrigo Holgado is also a formidable name when he is in the top scorer list in the Colombian National Championship.
Previously, FAM and fans of this country were extremely worried that the profiles of these newly naturalized players would not be approved by FIFA in time for the match with Vietnam. However, this good news right before the match will be an extremely good signal for the opponent, but also a worry for coach Kim Sang Sik's team.
All of the above players have about 1 week of training before entering the match with the Vietnam team.
This is probably the reason why the Malaysian team has not yet announced the shortlist for the match against Vietnam. Previously, there was only a list of 30 players and coach Peter Cklamovski must definitely eliminate 7 names to reduce the list to 23 players as required.
This latest move somewhat clarifies the situation of Malaysia's forces before tonight's confrontation.
