According to Olympic tradition, the torch will be lit in Olympia, Greece, on April 16, 2024. 10,000 torchbearers will carry the Olympic flame to Marseille, France, on May 8 and cross the Mediterranean to begin a journey through the country's 64 provinces, including 5 overseas provinces and territories.

ArcelorMittal, official partner of Paris 2024, will produce 2,000 torches, five times fewer than previous Olympics, to minimize the impact of production.
