Nam Phuoc residents join hands to upgrade and expand roads

Under the scorching sun, on the 160m long road in Chau Hiep block, Nam Phuoc town (from the beginning of Nong Cong street to the border of Ho Nghinh street), everyone enthusiastically contributed labor and money to clear the land for traffic, the atmosphere was bustling like a festival.

Mr. Tran Anh Tan in Chau Hiep block shared: “The road in the group was upgraded, concreted, and widened from 3.5m to 5.5m, I was very happy. Therefore, my family voluntarily cut down the trees and donated ^20m2 of land. Not only my family, but all the families here did the same. Everyone was eager to join hands to open the road.”

Determining that the road expansion would affect the garden and residential land of some households, before the construction started, the Nam Phuoc town government and Chau Hiep block officials held a meeting to inform the people about the policy and benefits of this project. At the same time, they went to each house to encourage people to donate land, move fences and gates, and contribute labor days. Thanks to that, the households agreed and participated enthusiastically.

According to our research, the total investment cost for the construction of the road and installation of drainage is nearly 430 million VND. Of which, the State supported 170 million VND, the people contributed 84 million VND, and Mr. Tran Van Minh's family sponsored 80 tons of cement and 150 million VND.

Mr. Luong Van Minh - Head of Chau Hiep block said, after the meeting to announce the policy, mobilize people in the spirit of "State and people work together" and properly implement the motto "People know, people discuss, people do, people check, people supervise and people enjoy", in just a short time, 14 households living along the road voluntarily donated ^300m2 of urban land, dismantled fences - gates, architectural objects, trees on the land, that is not including the cost of rebuilding other architectural works.

It is expected that by the end of April 2025, this route will be completed and put into use to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.

According to Mr. Luong Thanh Binh - Vice Chairman of Nam Phuoc Town People's Committee, the upgrading and expansion of local roads has been carried out in many forms. For asphalt roads, expanded to 11.5m, the state budget invested 100%, people only donated land and structures on the land.

For the concrete road widened to 5.5m or 7.5m, the state budget supports 60%, the rest is contributed by the people and donated land, structures on the land, and raised roadbed to ensure aesthetics.

In addition, some routes are compensated according to State regulations because they are part of project investments such as the National Highway 1 expansion project, the Dong Cau Chim commercial - service - residential area project....

Mr. Binh added that from 2020 to now, Nam Phuoc town has upgraded and expanded 11 asphalt roads with a cross-section of 11.5m wide with a total length of more than 10km and 15 concrete roads with a cross-section of 5.5 - 7.5m wide with a total length of more than 14km. These projects are all expanded from the old road surface of only 3.5m wide, affecting nearly 80,000m2 ^of land of more than 1,600 households, including up to 60,000m2 ^of residential land and 20,000m2 ^of agricultural land.

“The roads that are “the will of the Party and the hearts of the people” are built spacious and clean, creating favorable conditions for local socio-economic development as well as making Nam Phuoc urban area increasingly spacious, modern and civilized,” Mr. Binh shared.
