The program takes place on the 8th and 9th days of Tet (Saturday, Sunday, February 17 and 18, 2024) at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
According to the organizers, the program includes the activity Hoi An Night: Light up the heritage, which will be open free of charge from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 8th and 9th days of Tet. This activity creates an opportunity for the public to explore the folk arts and traditional crafts associated with Hoi An ancient town.
The space of Hoi An ancient town is recreated in the brilliant light of lanterns, accompanied by images of artisans making pottery, carpentry, lanterns, bamboo statues...
People who love exercise can participate in games like hiding and smashing pots, calling out cards, practicing folk songs, etc.
In addition, young people have the opportunity to learn about the traditional Tet and culture of Hoi An with the support of technology through interactive screen experiences and dragon drawing contests to discover the children of the dragon,...
Young people will have impressive check-in photos in the ancient town of Hoi An right in the heart of Hanoi.
Children are guided on how to make some toys related to the Tet theme to learn scientific knowledge which is also introduced to enrich the experience. These activities contribute to diversifying the forms of approaching young audiences to bring cultural heritage to the younger generation.
Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Cam, Director of the Center for Culture - Sports and Radio - Television of Hoi An city shared: "This is a good opportunity for Hoi An people to introduce their cultural heritage directly to the public in the capital. We wish to honor the values of local cultural heritage as well as create opportunities for exchange and cooperation for Hoi An. Through these practical activities, we will contribute to affirming the values of handicrafts and folk arts in Hoi An's journey to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, while promoting and introducing the image of Hoi An to a large number of Vietnamese and international tourists".
Dr. Bui Ngoc Quang - Deputy Director in charge of the Museum shared: "In addition to introducing the beauty of the traditional Tet, this year we organize a variety of experiential activities so that the public has many options to explore and learn about cultural heritage. The collaboration with Hoi An to introduce traditional crafts and folk arts contributes to honoring the cultural values here in the journey to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. The program hopes to create a useful playground for young people, helping to increase understanding of the traditional Tet in general and the cultural heritage of Hoi An in particular. From there, young people will understand and appreciate the traditional culture of their ancestors and raise awareness of protecting and promoting heritage values in contemporary society".
