After numerous negotiations, FPT Play officially acquired the broadcasting rights for the opening match of the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, featuring the Vietnamese national team playing away against the Philippines. The company declined to disclose the amount paid for the rights, but it is possible the partner agreed to a last-minute price reduction.
"The journey of Coach Troussier and his team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers this November will be fully broadcast by FPT Play to millions of Vietnamese football fans."
The journey will begin with an away match in Manila against the Philippines (November 16), followed by a home game against the strongest opponent in the group, Iraq (November 21).
"Faced with difficulties and challenges, Coach Troussier is eager for a good start to serve as a springboard for his ambition to go deep in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, as well as to dispel any doubts that have arisen recently," the television station announced.
This is the only television station in Vietnam that purchased the broadcasting rights for the match between the Vietnamese national team and the Philippines, just over 24 hours before kick-off.
Besides the opening away match of the Vietnamese national team, the three home matches against Iraq (November 21), Indonesia (March 26, 2024) and the Philippines (June 6, 2024) of Coach Troussier's team will also be broadcast live by this television station.
