The Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique visits Gaza province and presides over a trade promotion workshop.

From December 8-10, a delegation from the Embassy, ​​led by the Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique, Tran Thi Thu Thin, visited and worked in Gaza Province, southern Mozambique.

During the working visit, the Ambassador met with the Governor of Gaza Province, Margarida Chongo, the Chairman of the Provincial Council, José Tsambe Reeleito, and leaders of various departments in Gaza Province; co-chaired with the Governor a seminar on promoting Vietnamese trade and investment in Gaza Province, organized by the Embassy in coordination with the province; visited the memorial site of the late President of Mozambique, Samora Machel; visited and worked with staff of the Movitel branch in Gaza; and met with some Vietnamese people working in Gaza Province.

Governor Margarida Chongo of Gaza Province warmly welcomed the Ambassador to the province, expressing hope that the visit would open up more opportunities for cooperation between Vietnamese partners and Gaza Province in the future in priority areas and strengths of the province such as agriculture , aquaculture, livestock farming, agricultural product processing, and mineral exploitation.

She mentioned that she had visited Vietnam in May 2025 and expressed her deep impression of Vietnam's economic and social development achievements in recent years, assessing Vietnam as a country with a dynamic economy, a developing consumer market, and a strategic gateway to Southeast Asia for agricultural and aquatic products from Gaza province.

According to the Governor, Vietnam's expertise and experience in agriculture, aquaculture, manufacturing, and information technology are a great source of inspiration for Gaza province in particular and Mozambique in general.

The Governor emphasized that Movitel's success in Mozambique is a vivid testament to the good, practical, and effective cooperation between the two countries, and expressed his readiness to support and promote the replication of similar mutually beneficial cooperation models in Gaza Province in the future.

During her meeting with the Governor of Gaza, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin shared her particular impression of the abundant development potential and hospitality of the people of Gaza.

According to the Ambassador, Gaza is a "red address," the homeland of two of Mozambique's first revolutionary leaders and close friends of the Vietnamese leadership and people: Eduardo Mondlane, Chairman of the Mozambique Liberation Front Party, and the late President Samora Machel.

Gaza has diverse topography and soil characteristics, with many similarities to the natural conditions of Vietnam. These are the reasons why the Ambassador chose Gaza as the first place to visit and work in during his term of service in Mozambique.

Emphasizing the traditional solidarity and close cooperation between Vietnam and Mozambique over the past half-century, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin expressed hope that Governor Margarida Chongo and the provincial authorities would create favorable conditions for investment and business activities of Vietnamese enterprises in the area and actively support mutually beneficial cooperation initiatives and projects between the two sides in the future.

According to the Ambassador, the two sides can enhance the exchange of experience in areas where Vietnam has strengths and Gaza has potential, such as agriculture, livestock farming, and aquaculture.

The Vietnam-Gazette Trade and Investment Promotion Workshop in Gaza Province, organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique in coordination with Gaza Province, was a highlight of the working trip. The workshop was attended by over 100 delegates, including representatives from various departments and agencies, leaders from districts and administrative units within the province, members of the Provincial Executive Council and Business Council, numerous leading businesses in the province, and businesses interested in or already engaged in economic cooperation with Vietnamese partners.

At the seminar, delegates had the opportunity to learn about Vietnam's market, needs, strengths, and mechanisms and policies for attracting foreign investment and promoting trade. The Embassy delegation also had the chance to hear about the province's typical products, potential, and strengths.

Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin and Governor Margarida Chongo listened to the concerns and aspirations of the business community and answered many questions regarding the prospects for investment and trade cooperation with Vietnam in various fields such as food production and processing, aquaculture, coal and strategic mineral mining, tourism , etc.

During her visit to the Samora Machel Presidential Memorial Site in Chókwè district, Ambassador Trần Thị Thu Thìn and her delegation had the opportunity to learn about the life, career, and significant legacy of the late President Samora Machel, the first President of Mozambique.

According to the Ambassador, the late President Samora Machel was a close friend and comrade of the leaders and people of Vietnam; he also held special affection for the leaders and people of Vietnam and for Vietnam's achievements in combat and production.

During his lifetime, the late President visited Vietnam many times and welcomed Vietnamese leaders to Mozambique. After Mozambique gained independence, the late President named a major avenue in the center of the capital Maputo, near the City Hall and Independence Square, after President Ho Chi Minh. A statue of the late President was later erected in this area, symbolizing the close and strong relationship between the two generations of leaders and the two countries.

Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin presented the family of the late President with some documentary images showcasing the close relationship between the late President Samora Machel and Vietnam, and planted a commemorative tree at the late President's memorial site. On this occasion, the Ambassador also donated one ton of food to the people of Chilembene village, the birthplace of the late President Samora Machel in Chokwè district.

During her working visit, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin also visited and worked with the staff of the Movitel branch in Gaza province and met with some Vietnamese people working in the province.

The Ambassador was pleased to hear about Movitel's positive business results in Gaza and hoped that the staff at the branch would continue to strive and make positive contributions to the overall success of the company and the development of the locality, acting as a bridge to bring the image of Vietnam closer to the people of Gaza province.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the Ambassador was moved to meet and listen to the sharing and opinions of the Vietnamese community, and was pleased to see that our community has a stable life, integrates well into the local society, and maintains unity and solidarity.

The Ambassador affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to the Vietnamese community abroad, considering the community as an inseparable part of the nation and an important resource; he urged the community to continue to unite, help each other develop together, and make positive contributions to the friendly and cooperative bilateral relations between the two countries.

Gaza Province, located in southern Mozambique, covers an area of ​​approximately 76,000 square kilometers and has a population of nearly 1.5 million. Saisai, the provincial capital, is situated 210 kilometers from Maputo. Gaza is known for its potential in agriculture, livestock farming, aquaculture, mineral extraction, and tourism. Approximately 90% of the province's working-age population is employed in agriculture. The province has relatively good transportation infrastructure, with a system of national and inter-provincial roads, a seaport, an airport, and a railway.
