Woman living alone set herself on fire with gasoline

(NLDO)- Due to depression caused by illness, a woman living alone in Thanh Hoa used gasoline to burn herself to death.


On the morning of February 18, Mr. Bui Van Ty, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Tien Commune, Thach Thanh District, Thanh Hoa Province, confirmed that a woman had just died from self-immolation in the area.

According to Mr. Ty, the incident occurred at 6:30 p.m. on February 17, in Village 2, Thanh Tien Commune. At that time, Ms. NTM (born in 1964; residing in Village 2) used gasoline to set herself on fire. When relatives and neighbors discovered her, the woman had already died.

Immediately after the incident, the police coordinated with local authorities to conduct a crime scene investigation and complete necessary procedures. Determining that the incident was not related to murder, the body was handed over to the family for funeral arrangements.

According to Thanh Tien commune authorities, Ms. M. lived alone, had been sick for the past 10 years and was receiving social security benefits. "Due to depression due to her illness, Ms. M. burned herself to death without any conflict or problem," informed the elder of Thanh Tien commune People's Committee.
