More and more Vietnamese people are choosing to buy popular 5+2-seat MPVs, in which Mitsubishi Xpander, with its appeal and leading advantage in the sales race, has the opportunity to "reign" as the best-selling car in the Vietnamese market in 2023.
After nearly 5 years since entering the Vietnamese automobile market (August 2018), Mitsubishi Xpander quickly achieved a lot of success when becoming the "golden goose" for the Japanese car company, and at the same time rose to lead the popular 5 + 2-seat MPV segment. Success came quite quickly, but Mitsubishi Xpander has never been crowned the best-selling car of the year in Vietnam, even though it was once on the threshold of glory.
Vietnamese people increasingly prefer MPV cars.

Last year, Mitsubishi Xpander continuously led the monthly sales race in the Vietnamese market. This model even had a chance to take the throne when it surpassed the "sales king" Toyota Vios many times. However, at the end of 2022, the throne of the best-selling car in the market in 2022 was still not called Mitsubishi Xpander when Toyota Vios had a spectacular "sprint". Xpander ended 2022 with a total of 21,983 cars sold, behind Toyota Vios (23,529 cars) and Hyundai Accent (22,645 cars).
Previously, in 2021 - when the auto market was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Mitsubishi Xpander only finished in 7th place with a total of 13,616 vehicles sold. In 2020, it ranked 5th with 16,844 vehicles and in 2019, it ranked 2nd with 20,098 vehicles sold. Thus, from 2019 to 2022, Mitsubishi Xpander has always been in the list of 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam but has never won the throne. In the history of the Vietnamese auto market in the past 10 years, there has never been an MPV model that won the throne of the best-selling car in Vietnam by year.
However, with changes in Vietnamese car choice trends and the situation taking place from the beginning of 2023 until now, Mitsubishi Xpander is facing the opportunity to rewrite history.
No longer favoring sedans like in previous years, Vietnamese people are now buying more and more MPVs , especially popular 5 + 2-seat MPVs priced under 700 million VND. Data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) shows that after the first 7 months of 2023, the total number of MPVs sold in Vietnam reached 26,447 vehicles, most of which were popular 5 + 2-seat MPVs. In the context of declining purchasing power, sales in many segments "plummeted", MPV consumption still grew.

It is the change in Vietnamese consumer tastes that is opening up opportunities for popular car models like Mitsubishi Xpander. According to VAMA, after 7 months of 2023, with nearly 10,600 cars sold, Mitsubishi Xpander is the name leading the race for sales in the popular 5 + 2-seat MPV segment as well as the entire Vietnamese automobile market . In addition to the brand, stability and proven quality, the appearance of the upgraded version from last year) along with incentives and discounts continuously applied help Xpander continue to increase its competitiveness as well as its appeal in the Vietnamese automobile market .
Currently, Mitsubishi Xpander is dominating its competitors in the 5+2-seat popular MPV segment in terms of sales, while creating a gap of about 2,000 vehicles compared to its pursuers in the race to become the best-selling car in Vietnam in 2023.

If it continues to maintain its sales growth and create spectacular sprints in the final stages of the year... Mitsubishi Xpander will certainly win the title of best-selling car in Vietnam for the first time, thereby writing history for this car model itself as well as the sales race in the Vietnamese car market.
