According to Mr. Quang, the Ministry of Health has issued output capacity standards for doctors. Health training schools use these standards to develop program standards and standards for doctors graduating from the school.
"Currently, some schools such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hanoi Medical University... have built training programs that meet the requirements of competency standards, but there are still schools, including many non-public schools, that do not have standard programs in this direction.
Meanwhile, by 2027, doctors graduating from school must pass a competency assessment exam and pass it to be granted a practice certificate. If the school's program is not up to standard, there is a risk that doctors graduating from school will not meet the standards to be granted a practice certificate," said Mr. Quang.
According to Mr. Quang, in a recent workshop in Can Tho on improving the quality of medical university education, it was found that a large proportion of schools have not yet developed training programs according to output standards, and as a result, in the 2027 exam, graduating doctors may not meet the requirements of the skills assessment council.
"The difference in the quality of doctors between schools that have trained according to standards and those that have not is quite large. There are two years left until the first quality assessment exam, schools that have not followed the program standards must immediately approach the competency standards and change their training models, otherwise doctors will have to work in other professions after graduation because they do not have the qualifications to examine and treat patients," said Mr. Quang.
Investment in scientific and technological innovation, including medical science and technology, is also a matter of concern. According to Mr. Quang, in the past, the medical sector only had 80-100 billion VND per year for scientific and technological research tasks. In the future, the investment could be up to 600 billion VND per year, but with the mandatory requirement of having quality products.
With ongoing research to improve the quality of disease prevention and treatment, the Department of Science, Technology and Training of the Ministry of Health shared that there is a great potential for cooperation in research on vaccines (treatment vaccines) for lung cancer, in which cooperation with Russian scientists is very potential. If the requirements are met, this vaccine factory will be built in Vietnam to serve the domestic market and export.
In addition, domestic scientists are also conducting research using mesenchymal stem cells to treat diseases such as autism. The research is also showing initial results. Hospitals such as Bach Mai, National Children's Hospital... are also strongly implementing digital transformation and have made clear progress in serving patients thanks to digital transformation.
