Round by round, shot by shot, Anh Minh overcame a series of strong opponents from all over the world to bring the red flag with yellow star to the finals of a tournament organized by the United States Golf Association (USGA) for the first time.
On July 26, when Nguyen Anh Minh stepped onto the tee for the 36-hole final, the clock in Dallas struck morning but darkness had already fallen in Vietnam. However, the 12-time zone difference could not stop thousands of fans from their home country from following the young man’s every move in America.
Anh Minh's opponent, Hamilton Coleman, not only has home field advantage but also possesses brilliant form when defeating a series of heavy seeds to advance to the final match.
And in fact, the match went as predicted: Coleman started off with a dominating presence, at times leading by as much as 1 goal. 5 Up after the first half of the journey. However, if you think the match will end quickly, you are wrong about Nguyen Anh Minh's ability.
In the second half, Vietnam's No. 1 golfer exploded strongly, narrowing the gap to only 1 Down after 30 holes, lighting up hopes of a miraculous comeback. However, Coleman's precise birdie putt at the 35th hole (17th hole) closed all opportunities, sealing a close 2&1 victory for the American golfer.
