Former Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary approved to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister

The National Assembly has just approved the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, former Secretary of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, as Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

On October 25, at the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly , the National Assembly voted electronically to pass the Resolution on approving the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Mr. Ho Quoc Dung as Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term, with the following results: 430 delegates participated in the vote (equal to 90.72% of the total number of National Assembly delegates); of which, 429 delegates approved (equal to 90.51% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), and 1 delegate did not vote (equal to 0.21% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).

Mr. Ho Quoc Dung was born in 1966, hometown Cat Tai commune, Phu Cat district, former Binh Dinh province (now Gia Lai province). He has a high level of political theory; Master of Law; Member of the 13th Party Central Committee; Delegate of the 12th National Assembly.

Since 2009, he has held the position of Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province for the 2004-2011 term. In June 2011, he was a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province for the 2011-2016 term.

On November 21, 2014, he held the position of Deputy Secretary of the 18th Provincial Party Committee, term 2010-2015; Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, term 11, term 2011-2016. In October 2015, he held the position of Deputy Secretary of the 19th Provincial Party Committee, term 2015-2020; Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, term 11, term 2011-2016.

On June 24, 2016, he held the position of Deputy Secretary of the 19th Provincial Party Committee, term 2015-2020; Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, term XII, term 2016-2021.

On October 15, 2020, at the 20th Congress of the Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, he was elected to hold the position of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 20th term, 2020-2025 term. On December 6, 2020, he held the position of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 20th term, 2020-2025 term; Chairman of the People's Council of Binh Dinh Province for the 12th term, 2016-2021 term.

On January 30, 2021, at the 13th National Congress of the Party, he was elected as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee for the 2021-2026 term. On June 30, 2025, he held the position of Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020-2025 term.

On October 3, at the 1st Congress of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, Bui Thi Quynh Van - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee - announced the Politburo's Decision on appointing the Party Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary, Deputy Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the term 2025-2030. Accordingly, the Politburo agreed to allow Mr. Ho Quoc Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, 13th term, Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the term 2020-2025 to cease participating in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, cease holding the position of Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the term 2025-2030 and related positions, so that the Central Committee can carry out the process of introducing and electing the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the term 2021-2026./.
