Faced with the potential risk of an increase in dengue fever cases, the health sector and local authorities of Hai Phong city are actively and decisively implementing measures to promptly handle outbreaks and prevent the widespread spread of dengue fever.

Prompt action is needed when an outbreak occurs.

According to the Cam Giang Health Center, since the beginning of the year, the center has recorded 33 cases of dengue fever in the communes of Mao Dien, Tue Tinh, and Cam Giang.

Currently, local authorities and the health sector are actively focusing on controlling the outbreak. On October 22nd, the Cam Giang Health Center and Mao Dien commune coordinated environmental sanitation and mosquito control spraying in Quy Duong village.

From the beginning of September 2025 until now, Mao Dien commune has recorded 12 cases of dengue fever. In the outbreak area of Quy Duong village, Mao Dien commune, in the 10 days from October 11-21, there were 7 cases of dengue fever. Currently, 6 patients are still receiving treatment at a medical facility.

Dr. Vu Thi Men, Head of Mao Dien No. 1 Commune Health Station, said that immediately after receiving information about the case, the station sent staff to the family to investigate and encourage the patient's household and surrounding households to conduct a thorough environmental sanitation, turning over any objects containing stagnant water to kill mosquito larvae. The station also coordinated with village organizations to carry out a general environmental cleanup.

According to representatives from Mao Dien commune, after the outbreak occurred, the commune held a meeting and directed relevant departments and organizations to focus on the issue, disseminating information and mobilizing the people to carry out general environmental sanitation. They also concentrated on the outbreak area in Hamlet 1, Quy Duong village, and sprayed mosquito-killing chemicals within a 200m radius of the outbreak site.

On October 22nd, Mao Dien commune mobilized its forces to simultaneously carry out a comprehensive environmental cleanup in Quy Duong village, focusing on Hamlet 1 and the surrounding high-risk areas.

Party branches, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, the Women's Union, the Farmers' Association, the Youth Union, and the Veterans' Association sent forces to participate directly and to propagate and mobilize the people to participate.

The forces focused on collecting waste, clearing bushes, unclogging drains, removing stagnant water containers where mosquitoes that transmit dengue fever easily breed, and turning over water containers when not in use. The commune health station coordinated in monitoring, providing technical guidance on disease prevention and control, and spraying chemicals to kill mosquitoes according to regulations.

Meanwhile, in Hai Duong ward, after recording two dengue fever cases in the same household, on October 17th, the People's Committee of the ward directed the ward's Health Station to coordinate with the Hai Duong Health Center, the Military Command, the Fatherland Front Committee, and other organizations to handle the outbreak in residential area No. 29, Han Giang area.

Authorities have sprayed mosquito-killing chemicals over a 200-meter radius, encompassing over 30 households around the outbreak area; and organized a comprehensive environmental sanitation campaign.

The People's Committee of Hai Duong Ward has launched a ward-wide environmental sanitation campaign, requiring 100% of residential groups to participate in mosquito eradication, address stagnant water sources, and inspect high-risk areas such as construction sites, vacant houses, and lodging areas… in order to prevent the spread of the disease.

Strengthen communication and raise awareness of prevention.

According to the Hai Phong City Center for Disease Control, the number of dengue fever cases typically increases in the last months of the year. Since the beginning of the year, the city has recorded over 690 cases of dengue fever.

Currently, only 30 patients are receiving treatment at the medical facility. The latest statistics from the Hai Phong CDC show that, out of 133 outbreaks that occurred since the beginning of the year, 14 are still active.

The People's Committee of Mao Dien commune has requested households in Quy Duong village to fully implement the recommendations of specialized agencies, proactively clean their homes and surroundings, and actively participate in the general environmental sanitation campaign.

The People's Committee of the commune is intensifying efforts to educate the public on measures to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds by covering water containers to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs, introducing fish into large water containers to kill larvae, cleaning small water containers, collecting and disposing of waste materials in and around the house, maintaining cleanliness, and regularly spraying mosquito repellent...

According to Ms. Pham Thi Thoi, Director of the Cam Giang Health Center, in response to the increasing risk of dengue fever cases, the unit and the communes are continuing to strengthen public awareness campaigns to improve disease prevention by cleaning the environment, clearing trees and bushes, eliminating mosquito larvae, and sleeping under mosquito nets.

The center is actively coordinating with relevant forces to thoroughly eliminate pathogens at the outbreak site to avoid the risk of a widespread epidemic. The unit also directs health stations to closely monitor the outbreak site, disseminate information, and explain to households to raise public awareness of epidemic prevention and control.

The Hai Phong City Center for Disease Control recommends that localities strengthen measures to prevent and control the epidemic. The most effective measure is to eliminate mosquitoes, larvae, and pupae.

The Hai Phong City Center for Disease Control has been actively coordinating with local health centers to strengthen public awareness campaigns on dengue fever prevention and control, provide professional support for disease prevention and control, monitor and handle outbreaks, collect waste, and remove stagnant water containers that serve as breeding grounds for disease-carrying mosquitoes.

Communes and wards are intensifying propaganda efforts, urging people to pay attention to and effectively implement preventive measures as recommended by the health sector to protect the health of their loved ones, families, and the community.
