TPO - As the first martial artist to have a chance to compete for the International Martial Arts title, team captain Nguyen Hoang Thach of Lien Phong Martial Arts School is aiming for an early end at the upcoming GMA 06 event.

If we have to name the most prominent faces at Lien Phong Martial Arts School, we cannot ignore Nguyen Hoang Thach, the fighter who is dominating professional MMA arenas in the country.

Born in 1991, Hoang Thach currently has an impressive record of 4 wins in professional MMA, along with the Black Panther (55kg) weight class championship belt won at the first season of "Gods of Martial Arts Vietnam".

Possessing a fierce, fast but equally skillful fighting style, Hoang Thach has always been a real challenge for every opponent who has faced him in the ring.

At GMA 06, Hoang Thach will defend his belt against a familiar opponent - Le Huy Hoang from PFC Phu Quoc, who faced him in the final of GMA 2024.

Despite winning on points after 5 dramatic rounds, Hoang Thach was still not really satisfied. “This time, I wanted to aim for a finish. Of course, that goal was not easy, but after 5 rounds with Huy Hoang in the previous match, I believe I can exploit more in this rematch," Hoang Thach shared.

However, Hoang Thach was also clearly aware of the unpredictability of his opponent, the only person who had ever forced him to fight for 5 rounds. The match between Hoang Thach and Huy Hoang was once voted “Best Match of the Year” by the Than Vo Viet Nam system.

On the other hand, the 2003-born boxer Le Huy Hoang also did not hide his ambition to overthrow the champion. Before the rematch, Huy Hoang confidently revealed that he was preparing a “secret weapon” specifically for Hoang Thach.

In the 2024 final, Huy Hoang surprised everyone by knocking down Hoang Thach in the second half, and at the same time created danger many times with his ground combat skills, a strength that can continue to create breakthroughs in the upcoming reunion.

After intensive training at the end of 2024, Hoang Thach's fighting style has become increasingly perfect, not only in his powerful kicks and knees, but also in his ability to lock down, a technique that helped him defeat veteran Tran Trong Kim at the recent LION Championship. He is considered the fastest-improving and most comprehensive fighter at Lien Phong at present.

After senior Tran Quang Loc retired, Nguyen Hoang Thach officially took over the role of captain of Lien Phong competition team. Besides developing his competition career, he also shouldered the responsibility of leading the younger generation of martial artists. In early 2025, Lien Phong added many new elements, increasing the responsibility for the captain born in 1991.

According to the Gods Of Martial Arts competition rules, the winner of the match at the GMA 06 event on June 28 will compete for the International Gods Of Martial Arts championship in October. The opponent of the winner of GMA 06 will be decided at the event in August, with matches between fighters from the region.

If any Vietnamese martial artist wins the International Divine Martial Arts belt, the Vietnamese Divine Martial Arts title will be passed on to the next martial artist. This is considered a “dual goal” for Hoang Thach, as he wants to win the first international title in his career and also lead the next team of Lien Phong Martial Arts School to own the Vietnamese Divine Martial Arts belt that he left behind.

“This GMA belt is my first professional title, so I really appreciate it. But I also want to aim for the international title in October. Hopefully, Lien Phong's fighters will continue to hold the Vietnam Than Vo belt after me," Hoang Thach shared.

The rematch between Nguyen Hoang Thach and Le Huy Hoang at GMA 06 is not simply a title match, but also a major turning point in the career of the 1991-born boxer. A convincing victory will help him step out of the domestic boundary, aiming for the International Divine Martial Arts belt - something that no Vietnamese boxer has ever touched.
