The book launch of Vietnam's Revolutionary Quintessence took place on the afternoon of June 5 at the headquarters of Nhan Dan newspaper, where journalist Ha Dang once worked as editor-in-chief before moving on to other roles.
Confessions of money in the safe and the power of the press
Journalist Ha Dang started writing for newspapers in 1947, nearly 80 years ago. His first article was titled Confessions of a Coin in a Safe, published in Phan Dau newspaper that same year.
At that time, the nation's resistance was in its early stages, facing many difficulties, so it needed the support of the entire population. There were poor people who contributed just a few pennies to turn into food, provisions, and weapons to serve the soldiers on the front lines.
Meanwhile, apart from the rich people with good intentions, there is a group of "rich beyond belief" people who keep their money in safes and do nothing. The money becomes useless and meaningless, so it is very sad.
He wrote Confessions of a Silver Coin in a Safe to call on rich people to donate money to the Resistance Fund.
After the article was published, some rich men in the area came to support it.
He said he "didn't think the article would have such a strong impact", and from then on followed journalism, considering it his life.
The Vietnamese revolutionary press turns 100 this year, and he has been immersed in that stream for nearly 80 years. His journalism career has accompanied the path of the Vietnamese revolution.
Learning from Uncle Ho's advice, "The press is a front; press cadres are revolutionary soldiers; pens and paper are their sharp weapons; articles are revolutionary calendars...", he said "My life as a journalist is to serve the revolution and the people, not to leave my name forever".
Meet many important politicians in the history of Vietnam's revolution
The book "The Quintessence of Vietnamese Revolution" is 800 pages thick, a collection of more than 100 articles and interviews... by journalist Ha Dang from 1955 to present.
The book consists of 3 parts. The first part is a selection of political articles written about Ho Chi Minh's morality and ideology, about important resolutions of the Party, about Party building, building a rule-of-law State, about the path to socialism, and about the people's right to mastery.
Part 2 of the book talks about President Ho Chi Minh and some outstanding revolutionaries and politicians of the Vietnamese revolution.
They are President Ton Duc Thang, General Secretary Le Duan, General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh; General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; Prime Minister Pham Van Dong, Advisor at the Paris Conference Le Duc Tho, Chairman of the Council of Ministers Pham Hung...
There is also the "leader" To Huu, the "big tree in the village of journalistic ideology" Hoang Tung...
The journalist had many opportunities to directly approach, serve or work with these characters for a long time, so he wrote portraits of these great characters that were full of everyday life, vivid and authentic.
In part three, the journalist tells about the achievements in implementing the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's policies and laws.
Journalist Ha Dang has held many different roles and positions: Member of the Party Central Committee, term VI, VII, National Assembly delegate, term VIII, IX, Head of the Central Ideology and Culture Committee (now the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee), editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan newspaper, editor-in-chief of Communist magazine, assistant to General Secretary Le Duan, assistant to General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.
He was also a member - assistant to the head of the delegation of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam.
Before The Quintessence of Vietnamese Revolution , the journalist published three books with major themes, including The World We Must Win, Rising from Small Production, and The New in Innovation .
