According to the forecast of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in the period from June 1 to August 15, the number of passengers passing through airports nationwide is expected to reach nearly 28 million, an increase of about 9% over the same period last year.
Of which, Tan Son Nhat airport alone is expected to receive nearly 10 million passengers - the highest level in the Vietnamese airport system. Specifically, Tan Son Nhat will receive about 4 million international passengers and nearly 6 million domestic passengers. This growth reflects the strong recovery of the aviation and tourism industries after a period affected by the pandemic and economic fluctuations. Ho Chi Minh City - one of the major tourist destinations - continues to record steady growth. In April alone, the city welcomed nearly 680,000 international visitors, an increase of more than 51% over the same period in 2025.
In the first four months of the year, international arrivals reached more than 2 million, while domestic arrivals reached nearly 12 million, up 26% and 7% respectively. Tourism revenue in the first four months of the year also reached more than VND76,500 billion, up more than 27% over the same period in 2024 - a clear sign that travel demand and purchasing power are recovering strongly.
Since April 19, a part of Tan Son Nhat's T3 passenger terminal has been put into operation. This helps separate the domestic passenger flow that has been concentrated at T1 terminal for many years, initially reducing operating pressure during peak season. According to the plan, in the summer of 2025 alone, T3 terminal is expected to serve more than 2 million domestic passengers, equivalent to nearly 40% of domestic passengers passing through Tan Son Nhat airport. This is considered a technical stepping stone, while the total design capacity of T3 terminal can reach 20 million passengers/year after completion. T3 is built with a modern design and integrates many operational support technologies such as automatic check-in system, smart security check and optimal baggage handling. These solutions contribute to increasing operational efficiency and helping passengers reduce waiting time.

Faced with great pressure from the high number of passengers during peak times, the leader of the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said that Tan Son Nhat Airport has coordinated and implemented many coordination plans early on. These include adding check-in counters, increasing security screening machines, deploying more staff at key locations, and promoting the use of remote check-in services (via phone or automatic devices).
Regarding security, additional control forces are added to coordinate with border police and customs to ensure smooth immigration procedures.
Technical measures such as checking runways, parking lots, fire-fighting equipment and shuttle bus locations were also implemented synchronously. ACV has directed member ports to focus on improving service quality, staff attitudes and promptly handling arising situations, avoiding "hot spots" at the airport.
