DK1/9 platform rescues fishermen in distress while diving to catch seafood

On the afternoon of October 7, the Naval Region 2 Command announced that officers and soldiers of DK 1/9 Platform (Ba Ke Cluster) under DK1 Battalion had just successfully rescued a fisherman who was in distress while diving to catch seafood.

Previously, at 11:00 a.m. the same day, while fishing in the DK1 sea area, fisherman Nguyen Van Cha (born in 1980, from Khanh Hoa , a crew member on fishing boat number QNg 90789TS) suffered from severe abdominal pain, fatigue, and high blood pressure. The crew members on board quickly took the fisherman to the DK1/9 platform for emergency treatment.

Immediately after receiving the fisherman, the officers, soldiers and medical staff of DK1/9 Platform quickly transferred him to the platform, organized examination and first aid, and helped the patient overcome the critical condition. At the same time, the unit informed the Command Center at all levels to have a timely support plan.

Through examination, the military medical team on the rig determined that this fisherman suffered from decompression sickness due to diving to catch seafood at a depth of 25m; his condition had worsened, beyond the ability to treat on-site.

Next, the Commander of DK1/9 Platform contacted, informed and guided the fishing boat to take the patient to the infirmary on Truong Sa Island for further monitoring and treatment.
