Philanthropist supports Bui Thi Tuong Vy with nearly 700 million VND

Representative of Kien Giang Newspaper gave money from readers to support Tuong Vy to Mr. Bui Van Tan (Tuong Vy's grandfather).

On July 14, representatives of Kien Giang Newspaper and the leadership of Ta Em Hamlet, Vinh Dieu Commune, Giang Thanh District (Kien Giang) visited and presented 4.5 million VND from Kien Giang Newspaper readers to the family of Bui Thi Tuong Vy.

Bui Thi Tuong Vy is the character in the article "Girl caught in rice cutting machine while catching mice for a living, very pitiful family situation", published on Kien Giang Online on July 5, 2023.

Mr. Bui Van Tan (Tuong Vy's grandfather) said that Vy's health is now stable.

Mr. Bui Van Tan (Tuong Vy's grandfather) said that she had just undergone her first surgery at Children's Hospital 1 ( Ho Chi Minh City), and Tuong Vy's health is currently stable.

“The doctor said that my child will probably undergo 10 surgeries and 5 months of continuous treatment and the exact hospital bill is not yet known. The family has already paid 100 million VND for the initial treatment cost. The family has placed artificial skin for 150 million VND to cover the lost scalp. This is only a temporary solution to protect and nourish the cells in the head,” Mr. Bui Van Tan shared.

Over the past 10 days, Vy's family has received a lot of help from philanthropists. Mr. Bui Van Tan was moved to send his thanks to philanthropists inside and outside the province: "Thanks to this support, Tuong Vy has more conditions and motivation to overcome difficulties, recover soon, and integrate into the community."

Mr. Le Tan Loi - Party Cell Secretary, Head of Ta Em Hamlet, Vinh Dieu Commune, Giang Thanh District (Kien Giang) said that from the time of calling for support for Tuong Vy until 10:00 a.m. on July 14, the hamlet and commune had received 690 million VND.

“The hamlet leadership has made a savings book of 500 million VND for the family. This money will be used for Tuong Vy’s future treatment and will not be used for any other purpose. We have given the remaining money to Tuong Vy’s grandfather to send to Ho Chi Minh City for her treatment,” said Mr. Le Tan Loi.
