Theater 5B increases performances to promote experimental works

(NLDO) - The Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association increased the number of performances of experimental works at Theater 5B to create conditions to promote award-winning works at the Stage Script Writing Camps.

On the morning of February 3, the Script Writers Association of Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association held a meeting at stage 5B (Vo Van Tan, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City) to deploy activities in 2023.

The meeting had many famous authors such as: Tran Van Hung, Dang Minh, Duc Hien, Le Thu Hanh, Thanh Binh, Khanh Chien, Tran Dang Nhan, Ngoc Truc, My Dung, Tung Phi, Phuong Vy, Ha Minh Man... In particular, there were many young authors who had participated in the 2022 training course organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association.

At the meeting, Mr. Ton That Can, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, announced the plan to organize performances at the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Drama Theater (also known as Theater "5B" - PV) in 2023. Specifically, Theater 5B will increase performances on weekdays to introduce, promote, and create conditions for authors whose works are staged for performance.

Author Tran Van Hung, Head of the Authors' Association, said: "Over the past 10 years, if added together, the Association has had more than 100 works created from the camps. In addition to the A prizes invested in and staged by the Association, the B, C and consolation prizes still have many good ideas that need to be commented on and edited so that they can be staged and promoted."

Author Le Thu Hanh commented: The Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association has the Sen Viet stage - a very suitable place to organize dialogues with the public, so that the creative force can listen to the audience's feedback and critical dialogues on the works.

"The team of authors sometimes writes subjectively, they write what they like, without listening to the audience's feedback on their thoughts when watching plays and performances. If Sen Viet Theatre opens this dialogue channel, it will be a place for the creative team to have the opportunity to exchange with the audience, to listen to their opinions on contemporary theater" - the author of the play "Far Away Shore" commented.

At the meeting, the Authors' Association of Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association announced that the 2023 Writing Camp will be held in April in Da Lat City, in addition, a field trip to the West will be held in November 2023.

This year is also the year that the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association cooperates with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports to organize the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival, aiming to organize performances and participate in the festival with new works, not using old scripts.

Author Ngoc Truc - representative of the Authors' Association of Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association congratulated the young authors participating in the training session on officially joining the Association.

People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc excitedly said that these are new signals from the Authors' Association, showing a very high determination in creating vivid materials to contribute to reviving the movement of writing scripts closely following the issues of today's life.

In February 2023, the Authors' Association will organize a field trip to Nha Be with the aim of having more new works written about this locality.
