Luu Xa Steel Rolling Mill: Proactively planning production from the beginning of the year

In the difficult year of 2023, the staff and employees of Luu Xa Steel Rolling Mill ( Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company) have made constant efforts to stand firm and maintain stable production and business. Entering the new year 2024, in order to complete the set targets, the Factory focused on implementing many solutions to boost production and product consumption right from the first days of the year.

In recent times, the Steel industry in general, including Luu Xa Steel Rolling Mill, has faced many difficulties and challenges in terms of product consumption markets, raw material prices, etc. In 2023, the targets for production value and steel output of the Mill were all lower than planned and compared to 2022.

Mr. Le Manh Tien, Chairman of the Factory Union, shared: At many times, the unit had to temporarily stop production to limit inventory. During that time, we took advantage of maintenance and technical improvements to reduce costs and improve the efficiency of machinery. Most notably, the renovation and upgrade of Kiln No. 2, a project designed and constructed by the Factory's technical workers.

Upon completion, the new furnace has helped reduce 50% of the power consumption of the crane and steel cables; reduced 2 workers for cutting blanks and about 60% of the consumption of materials. In addition, the more uniform furnace temperature also helps improve product quality.

With a target of VND265.5 billion in production value in 2024 and a total rolled steel output of over 70,000 tons, Luu Xa Steel Rolling Factory has determined that it is necessary to focus on its strong product of shaped steel (accounting for about 93% of planned output). Assessing that the market is still unpredictable and competition is increasingly fierce among steel enterprises, from the beginning of the year, the unit has implemented solutions to improve equipment and technology, especially the continuous rolling line, to improve the quality of shaped steel and fabricated steel products.

In 2023, the staff and workers of Luu Xa Steel Rolling Mill had 94 technical innovation initiatives, with a value of billions of dong in benefits.

The factory also innovated spare parts and equipment in a cost-effective, stable and efficient manner. Cost reduction was achieved through the restoration and reuse of spare parts; proactively manufacturing and improving production equipment to limit the need to order from outside. In addition, the unit proactively planned production in conjunction with repair and maintenance; reviewed and supplemented spare equipment; took advantage of product conversion time to repair and maintain the system to increase equipment efficiency, ensuring continuous and stable operation of the production lines.

According to the representative of Luu Xa Steel Rolling Mill, it is expected that in 2024, the unit will be able to sign a number of contracts to serve power grid infrastructure projects. The partner's requirement is a large order volume and to provide enough products in a short time. Therefore, the Factory has focused on reviewing to arrange and allocate labor reasonably and is ready to mobilize overtime when required. At the same time, continue to research and perfect the technology of producing shaped steel on a continuous rolling line from available billets; stabilize and improve the quality of rolled steel, especially surface quality, geometric dimensions and fine-tuning product packaging...

By proactively implementing many solutions from the beginning of the year, Luu Xa Steel Rolling Mill is determined to complete and exceed the assigned targets and tasks in 2024. On that basis, it ensures stable jobs and income for workers.
