Information about Mr. Tran Mong Hung's death only became widely known after Mr. Tran Hung Huy - Chairman of the Board of Directors and son of Mr. Tran Mong Hung - shared it on his personal Facebook page on the morning of May 1, 2024.

Mr. Hung was the first General Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors (1994 - 2008), member of the Board of Directors (2012 - 2018), Deputy Chairman of the Risk Management Committee (2018 - 2023) of ACB Bank.

ACB Bank also expressed condolences to the bank's founder:

“ACB would like to express our respect and deep gratitude to you for your great contributions to the development of the bank. Your passing is a great loss to your family and to ACB.

During more than 30 years of ACB's operation, Mr. Tran Mong Hung has been known as a visionary leader with a business spirit that respects the law and is practical and effective. He is also a leader who is dedicated to his employees and the organization.

From the very beginning, with a vision of harmonious and long-term development with society, Mr. Tran Mong Hung has managed ACB with prudence, prioritizing transparency. This has become a typical business method, helping ACB operate effectively and steadily in all contexts. He has also proven that prudence does not limit progress, but will be the foundation for promoting new things. His serious practice has helped ACB build a core value system that is the compass for all ACB activities, including integrity, prudence, innovation, harmony, and efficiency.

During his direct leadership, the Bank has made its mark on creativity and innovation. ACB is the first bank in Vietnam to apply core banking technology, helping customers to transact conveniently everywhere; the first bank to issue MasterCard international credit cards and deploy Western Union international fast money transfer service, marking the connection between ACB and global financial companies. His pioneering decisions reflect ACB's spirit of continuous learning and quick application of new technology. From that foundation, ACB has grown strongly, contributing to the overall development of the banking industry. ..”

On the morning of May 1, Mr. Hung's son, ACB Chairman Tran Hung Huy, shared his emotional thoughts about the passing of Mr. Tran Mong Hung:

“Goodbye, Dad.

My life is a great fortune to be the son of my father - my great monument, my hero, my lifelong teacher.

Dad has always been hard-working and devoted to his work, but everyone in his family understands that family is above all. Dad is strict, but he also loves, respects and encourages his children to be free and independent in choosing their own path and way of life. Dad sympathizes and understands every stumble of his children. Dad patiently teaches them little by little about life, about human nature, about business principles, about dealing with others. Dad teaches them integrity to live, think, make decisions, make connections and work together in business.

But perhaps the simplest, Dad is my Dad!

The path that Dad took me on, I will continue. Dad's journey, will be continued by future generations...

Dad, go in peace Dad…”

Mr. Tran Mong Hung laid the foundation for ACB's human resource management style, building the culture and working environment at ACB today, which has created generations of talented successor leaders and a team of high-quality, loyal employees. This is also the difference and biggest competitive advantage of ACB up to now.

In the past, Mr. Tran Mong Hung led ACB through certain difficult periods, especially the period when ACB was rumored to be "bankrupt", or the period 2012 - 2017 when ACB had to face and resolve the "blood clot" of bad debt caused by the "group of 6 companies" of Mr. Kien.
