These are two leading sports tournaments within the National Student Sports Tournament (NUC) system hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training, aiming to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the tradition of the Vietnamese Education sector (1945-2025), while spreading the spirit of school sports and encouraging the movement of "physical training following the example of great Uncle Ho" among students nationwide.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Lam - Deputy Head of the Department of Students, Ministry of Education and Training said: "These two large-scale tournaments are traditional activities to attract a large number of athletes to participate, helping students have a healthy playground to improve their health, stay away from social evils, and contribute to raising the stature of Vietnam.
Up to now, the number of participating teams is very large, such as the football tournament has 70 teams, basketball has 100 teams. Currently, the above movements are developing very strongly among students. The final round of the national student basketball and football tournament is the result of organization from the regions, is a lever to encourage students to participate in the sports movement more".
After more than a month of competition, the qualifying round of the two tournaments recorded 230 participating teams from more than 167 universities, academies and colleges across the country, with 355 matches held at 8 competition venues in 3 regions: North - Central - South. Basketball, the qualifying round of the 2025 National Student Basketball Tournament TV360 Cup had 161 teams participating in the qualifying round (113 men's teams, 48 women's teams) in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, the highest number since the NUC system was formed in 2022. Football, the 2025 National Student Men's Football Tournament TV360 Cup had 69 teams competing in the qualifying round held in 3 regions with 5 groups in the North (Hanoi City, Thai Nguyen), Central (Hue City) and South (Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Thap).
According to the competition schedule, the final round of the 2025 National Student Basketball Tournament will take place from November 6 to 14, 2025, bringing together the 14 best teams from the qualifying rounds. As for men's football, the final round of the 2025 National Student Men's Basketball Tournament will start from November 18 to 29, 2025, with the participation of 16 teams representing the regions and the host team, Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The total value of the system's prizes this year is nearly 600 million VND, awarded to groups and individuals with outstanding achievements.
The two consecutive tournaments not only represent a succession in organization, but also a spiritual connection with the same slogan "Lead the Game", demonstrating the dynamic, creative spirit and desire to assert themselves of Vietnamese students.
Professional organization is ensured by the Vietnam Basketball Federation and the Hanoi Football Federation, in coordination with local host schools.
