Poet Hong Thanh Quang: At 60 years old, there is still a lot of youthful fire.

(NLDO)- On the threshold of 60 years old, after experiencing a near-death illness and harsh human challenges, poet Hong Thanh Quang is still optimistic that there is still much of the fire of youth left in him.

- Reporter : Your poetry and music night will be held on the evening of September 4 at the Hanoi Opera House with the participation of a large number of famous artists. Many people are curious, what made you bring "Still the thirst" to the audience ?

+ Poet Hong Thanh Quang : I decided to make a poetry and music program to express my gratitude to those who have been very kind to me throughout my life and escape until I was 60 years old. I remembered a poem I wrote in the early 2000s. It may not be like other people, but for me, the poems appeared first and then my life progressed according to the ideas I wrote, unconsciously, not intentionally.

Poet Hong Thanh Quang is optimistic that there is still a lot of youthful fire in him.

And on the threshold of 60 years old, after going through a near-death illness and extremely harsh human trials, I realized that in me there still remains, although not intact, but many parts of the flame of youth, innocence, naivety, stubbornness...

- Reading poetry during grand art nights is something few people can do. What made you decide to do this special thing?

+ I was born with many congenital defects in speech, speech shape, language, and oral skills... And thinking back to my childhood, I was beaten unfairly a lot because I didn't know how to speak so that people around me could understand correctly and clearly what I wanted to express.

Fortunately, growing up, poetry has helped me express things that I could not express in prose in everyday life. And poetry has also helped me do the things I have done, even though I have never been considered the most suitable person for those jobs. Only when I could not find someone more suitable was I chosen. And I did not feel offended and immediately accepted because I am a person who is passionate about work, I never refuse opportunities to try myself in new fields. And I like to try even more when people think that I cannot do a certain job.

In life, the so-called winning or losing or success or failure are just perspectives, what matters is the experience. If we don't climb Mount Everest, how will we know that the higher the altitude, the more boring it is?!

I told my co-workers that we made this program not so that people would remember Hong Thanh Quang more, but so that after watching it, people would love each other more, love themselves more, and sympathize with the common feelings of everyone living in this world… I believe that this goal will be achieved. As people say, what comes from the heart will definitely reach the heart…

- Will the show sell tickets this time? Why don't you try selling tickets to listen to the poetry reading?

+ Many people asked to buy tickets and asked why I didn't sell tickets. I originally thought that for those who think poetry should be free, I would like them to pay a very high price to enjoy poetry. As for those who want to pay for poetry, I would like to give poetry to them for free. I really think that people who love poetry don't have much money, and those who do have money, if they are not people who love me personally and my poetry, will never spend money to buy tickets to enjoy my poetry. Therefore, in previous programs as well as in the program "Still the thirst", I chose the method of finding like-minded souls and companions.

Luckily, I always have friends and relatives who understand and love me, and artists who are always willing to open their hearts and participate in the program... They are truly precious and grateful!

Poetry is the most precious thing I have in this life. And I want to give my poems to everyone for free with the help and support of those who find in my poems the values ​​they cherish… Life has given me so many blessings for free, how can I take money from the poetry-loving public?!

- Poet Hong Thanh Quang, how is the man Hong Thanh Quang now different from when he did previous programs?

+ Now I have the conditions to not have to communicate with people and do things that I don't like anymore. When you are in the system, you are forced to do a lot of things that you don't like, because of obligations, because of duties, because of responsibilities... Now I only associate with those that I respect and they respect me. I don't look down on anyone, but I know, avoiding "elephants" is not a shame, especially "elephants" that only know how to suck up mud and spit it out on everyone...

- Reading social networks these days, how do you feel?

+ Anything that is new is also chaotic. Living in a chaotic world, we must train ourselves to purify. This world is not created by us according to our will, so we need to know the best way to adapt to protect ourselves...

- Is your artistic perspective and concept of poetry different now than before?

+ I don’t have any concept about poetry. I write poetry because I can’t help but write, it’s as natural as breathing. Do you have any concept about breathing?! (laughs)

- About love, how do you talk about it now?

+ Love is always the most wonderful thing that people can have.
