On November 17, FPX Esports Club officially announced its withdrawal from the Chinese League of Legends (LPL) tournament. The organizers said they had completed the agreement to buy back the team's participation spot and FPX will no longer participate in the tournament's competition system from January 1, 2026. This is an important milestone, ending the 8-year journey of the 2019 world champion in the Chinese arena.

In a farewell letter to fans, FPX shared their journey since their establishment in late 2017. The team described the time entering the LPL as a passionate period, when all members came together with a love for League of Legends and a desire to affirm their name on the professional stage.

The 2018 season saw FPX struggle as a young team. However, the organization said that it was this period that helped them gain experience and lay the foundation for their future breakthroughs.

The biggest turning point came in 2019, when FPX won the LPL Summer Championship and went straight to the top of the world. In Paris, the team defeated a series of strong opponents to win the World Championship that year. FPX described that moment as an “irreplaceable legacy”, a crystallization of teamwork, relentless effort, and explosive emotions from both the team and the fans.

The international championship helped FPX become a special symbol in LPL history, and at the same time engraved the image of "phoenix" in the memories of many fans.

In the years that followed, FPX experienced many changes. From 2020 to 2025, the team continuously changed personnel, experimented with new directions, and completely restructured. The team admitted that there were ups and downs, farewells, and reunions, but the spirit of solidarity was the factor that helped them maintain their motivation. In the letter, FPX called their journey “a milestone of pursuing a dream,” where every moment of competition was marked by effort.

Upon confirming their departure from the LPL, FPX would like to thank the players, coaching staff, partners, staff and all the fans who have accompanied the team for 8 years.

On the tournament side, the LPL organizers said that the purchase of FPX's participation spot was part of a plan that began at the end of last year, with the goal of optimizing the pace and operating model. The organizers affirmed that the agreement was reached voluntarily and will coordinate to support the players during the transition period.

The Chinese League of Legends scene has entered a period of decline. From more than 20 professional teams, many organizations are looking to leave the league. Declining performance, high player salaries, and age restrictions have caused these organizations to gradually lose their competitiveness.
