The program took place on the evening of December 6, and was elaborately staged to pay tribute to the great musical career of the musician who left a deep mark in Vietnam's revolutionary music.
This year’s program features the participation of many leading artists and experts. Notably, Associate Professor, Doctor, Artist Do Hong Quan, son of musician Do Nhuan, takes on the role of Director and Conductor of the orchestra. This is considered a special mark, creating an emotional generational connection.
In addition, the program brings together an experienced artistic team: Major General - musician Duc Trinh (Program director), music director musician Duc Tan, choreographer Hai Truong, stage designer Phung Nam Thang, art director People's Artist Khanh Hoa... Artists: People's Artist Pham Phuong Thao, Meritorious Artist Duc Hoai, Lan Quynh, Thu Huyen, Khanh Ngoc and the collective of actors from Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater.
“Do Nhuan - Sound of Life” is built as an artistic journey recounting the musician’s life and career through his representative works. The performances combine music, theater, and documentary images, recreating the atmosphere of a time of struggle while honoring lyrical melodies rich in humanity.
The event also has special significance as Hai Phong is implementing the Project “Building Hai Phong into a music city”, aiming to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music. Organizing large-scale programs such as the Wave Memory Concert, Y-Fest 2025 or the art night commemorating musician Do Nhuan is considered an important step to affirm the city's position on the music map of Vietnam and the region.
Born on December 10, 1922, Do Nhuan spent his childhood in Hai Phong, where his father served in the military band. He was the first General Secretary of the Vietnam Musicians Association and the founder of Vietnam Opera. During his career, the musician was awarded many noble prizes such as the Ho Chi Minh Prize, Phase I (1996), the Second Class Independence Medal and many resistance medals.
