The 27-year-old shared her journey of undergoing more than 20 cosmetic surgeries, costing about $170,000.
Born in Ibaraki, Japan, Hirase said she had a sad childhood, often bullied because of her unattractive appearance. Her friends said she “looked like a man”. Hirase’s mother also constantly criticized her daughter’s appearance, saying she resembled her father – a man who had betrayed his wife and left her with debts.

Living in a world full of negativity, Hirase always felt inferior and afraid to look in the mirror. There were times when she couldn't control her anger and broke mirrors.
At the age of 15, Hirase became obsessed with becoming beautiful. A year later, she started working part-time to save money. She moved out of her mother's house and rented a cheap, run-down apartment. For a while, she worked two jobs at the same time and slept only four hours a day.
At the age of 19, she had her first surgery. According to SCMP , after 20 surgeries, Hirase became a completely different person. Her life also changed greatly.
Hirase's before and after photos have attracted a significant following on social media. The Japanese girl's experiences and confidences are shared by many people with 1.1 million followers on Instagram and 300,000 on X. She has also appeared on many reality TV shows and fashion magazines.

Although pleased with her new look, Hirase admits she still struggles with low self-esteem, saying she probably wouldn't have had plastic surgery if her mother hadn't abused her.
When asked how she would feel if her future children were like her before the surgery, Hirase said: “I will never act like my mother. I will give my children lots of love and care.”
Chinese psychologist Zhang Xiwen said people with low self-esteem tend to deny their own worth, no matter how successful they are. She said they struggle to ignore the judgments of others and focus on themselves.
“To love yourself, you need to accept yourself for who you are,” she said.
“Hirase is an extraordinary person. She can succeed in anything with perseverance and self-control,” praised one netizen. Another expressed sympathy: “She is a victim of irresponsible parents who passed on genes but blamed their children. I am glad she found a way out.”
