Many international ministries and sectors participate in the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2024

The 5th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum took place from September 24 to 27 in Ho Chi Minh City with the theme “Industrial transformation, a new driving force for sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City”. Within the framework of this forum, there was also the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue with the theme “Industrial transformation: Experience and priorities in development cooperation”, taking place from September 23 to 24.

At the press conference, Mr. Le Truong Duy, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, said that the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue in 2024 is not only for the city to strengthen its friendly relations with localities, but also an opportunity for localities to discuss, share experiences, propose solutions and appropriate cooperation policies in promoting industrial transformation and realizing sustainable development goals.

The highlight of the series of activities is the Mayors' Conference with the participation of Central leaders, ministries, Ho Chi Minh City leaders and representatives of 58 international localities having friendly and cooperative relations with Ho Chi Minh City such as: Germany, the United States, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, Japan, China, Canada, Finland...

The 5th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum will take place from September 24 to 27 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 5th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum with the theme "Industrial transformation, new driving force for sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City" aims to share experiences and receive contributions from financial institutions, corporations, speakers, and prestigious domestic and international experts on the fields of socio-economic development, goals, and key programs of Ho Chi Minh City.

At the plenary session, delegates will hear reports on the main topics: Megatrends in industrial transformation in the world ; governance ecosystem and policies promoting industrial transformation; Ho Chi Minh City's industrial transformation strategy in the context of regional, international connectivity and new technology trends; the role of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Ho Chi Minh City associated with industrial transformation.

In parallel sessions, delegates will choose topics that suit their expertise and experience and participate in 3 discussion groups with the following topics: The role of C4IR in Ho Chi Minh City associated with industrial transformation; priorities in industrial transformation strategy; the role of businesses and stakeholders in industrial transformation.

The policy dialogue session with the Prime Minister on the afternoon of September 25 aims to create opportunities for localities and enterprises to have in-depth and substantive discussions with the Prime Minister and central ministries and branches on the current situation and solutions in applying the industrial transformation model in the city as well as national strategic issues. At the same time, it will recommend to the Government models, solutions and policies at the macro level.

Within the framework of the forum, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will hold the inauguration and launch ceremony of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Ho Chi Minh City, which will officially come into operation from September 24. The C4IR Center will operate in the form of a public-private partnership with large enterprises in Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City participating in the founding.

This year, the Forum is expected to have the participation of 1,500 delegates from Vietnamese ministries, financial institutions, international organizations, managers and leaders of domestic and international localities, representatives of diplomatic agencies, consular agencies, businesses, domestic and foreign experts in the fields of economics and technology.

Through the preparation and connection period, HEF 2024 will officially welcome the participation of more than 40 localities and international ministries in countries including China, Russia, the United States, Japan, Korea, Germany, Italy, Australia, India, etc.; including 16 levels of Governors, Provincial Governors, Deputy Provincial Governors, Deputy Ministers; at the same time, welcoming the presence of more than 27 domestic and international experts who have succeeded in the field of industrial transformation, innovation and sustainable development, along with international organizations such as the World Economic Forum (WEF), World Bank, FAO, UNDP, UNIDO, IFC, C4IR in Malaysia confirmed to attend.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association, shared that as the locality with the largest economic scale in the country and focusing on key economic activities, Ho Chi Minh City understands the difficulties of enterprises in the transformation process and wishes to support timely solutions. Therefore, HEF 2024 hopes to bring diverse lessons from experienced experts in this field, in order to create conditions for development and support enterprises in the transformation process.
