Total revenue from tourism reached over 210 billion VND. During the holiday, the average room occupancy rate in the province was lower than in 2022, just over 52%; the 4-5 star accommodation segment reached 65-70%. The tourist market from the northern provinces and cities to Phu Quoc decreased sharply due to high airfares.
Mr. Ha Duy Thao Phuc, Deputy General Director of Rooty Trip Phu Quoc Company, said: "Previously, airfares followed the law of supply and demand, but from 2023, they will no longer follow the law of supply and demand but will follow the profit plans of airlines. Of course, when airfares increase too much compared to Da Nang , Thailand or other places, people will not come to Phu Quoc."
According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, currently, international tourists to Kien Giang are gradually decreasing, connecting flights to Phu Quoc are only from Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand; flights from India to Phu Quoc are temporarily suspended due to lack of passengers; charter flights connecting Taiwan to Phu Quoc are also temporarily suspended (only 10 flights); the flight connecting Hong Kong to Phu Quoc scheduled to depart on April 27 did not take place as planned.
