Accordingly, this year's national 3x3 youth basketball tournament takes place from August 18 to 30 with the competition of 70 teams (a total of 280 athletes and 150 coaches) from provinces, cities and sectors across the country.
The teams will compete in 6 categories, including: 3x3 U16 men and women; 3x3 U18 men and women and 3x3 U20 men and women.
The 2024 National Youth 3x3 Basketball Championship held at Quy Nhon beach attracted many locals and tourists to watch.
Mr. Bui Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Binh Dinh province, said that the 2024 National Youth 3x3 Basketball Championship is a tournament in the national competition system. The tournament aims to promote the movement of practicing and competing in basketball among youth and students nationwide, and at the same time, integrate Vietnamese basketball into the common development in the regional and continental arenas.
According to Mr. Bui Trung Hieu, in recent times, Vietnamese basketball has changed dramatically. To achieve the current achievements and influence, the Vietnam Basketball Federation has proactively seized the opportunity from the attention of sports managers and business organizations to urgently plan and find its own direction without being too dependent on state funding.
U16 athletes compete in the 2024 National Youth 3x3 Basketball Championship
Along with operating and organizing the Vietnam professional basketball tournament, over the years, the Vietnam Basketball Federation has always aimed to promote the development of community basketball, according to the orientation of Vietnam's sports mission. Vietnamese basketball shows great potential when receiving the attention of a large number of fans, especially young people.
Particularly in Binh Dinh, basketball is increasingly attracting young people to practice. Many clubs have been established from schools, groups and many grassroots tournaments have been organized systematically and impressively, contributing to the wider development of this sport.
The audience had many exciting moments when watching the matches at the 2024 National Youth 3x3 Basketball Championship.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the matches of the U16 age group (including 10 female teams and 20 male teams) attracted many spectators and tourists to watch and cheer.
According to Mr. Bui Trung Hieu, the matches of this year's national 3x3 youth basketball championship will take place at the Victory Square stadium, located in the Quy Nhon beach area (Xuan Dieu Street, Quy Nhon City) from 3:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to create conditions for people and tourists to come and watch and cheer for the teams. At the same time, young, enthusiastic athletes with a passion for basketball will compete honestly, demonstrating the spirit of noble sportsmanship, creating a beautiful cultural feature in sports, thus contributing to the audience many good and dramatic matches.
