Many schools have stopped considering university admission for group C, the Ministry of Education and Training requires ensuring candidates' rights

A representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said that they had discussed with schools and noted that training institutions should adjust the admission combination appropriately, ensuring the rights of candidates after some schools suddenly stopped considering admission to block C00 (Literature, History and Geography).

According to the representative of the Ministry of Education and Training, this year is the first year that candidates will take the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program. They will only take two compulsory subjects: Math and Literature, and can choose two more subjects from the remaining subjects they have studied in high school. At this time, the selection of graduation exam subjects has been completed before the time schools announce enrollment information.

Therefore, when some schools abandon the traditional combination C00 and build an admission combination that focuses on English subjects such as History - Geography - English; Literature - History - English; Literature - Geography - English; Literature - Civic Education - English... then candidates who register for the graduation exam with 4 subjects (Math - Literature - History - Geography) will lose the opportunity to register for the above combinations because they do not have a graduation exam score in English. This is disadvantageous for candidates during the admission process.

The Ministry of Education and Training also requires that schools, after making adjustments, will soon inform candidates and explain to society. The spirit of the Ministry is that although schools are autonomous and responsible for enrollment, they must be reasonable and ensure the best interests of students.

This move was made after many candidates reacted to some universities suddenly stopping the admission of the C00 group (including Literature, History, Geography) right before the high school graduation exam.

Most recently, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) announced regular university enrollment in 2025, accordingly, there are up to 17 majors that will no longer be recruited using the traditional C00 block combination, including: Journalism; Social work; Oriental studies; Korean studies; Management science; Public relations; Information management; Tourism and travel services management; Hotel management; Office management; International studies; Psychology; Information - Library; Cultural studies; Vietnamese studies; Sociology; Cinema and popular arts.

Meanwhile, last year, this school considered the C00 combination for 26/28 majors (except Southeast Asian Studies and Japanese Studies); this year, only 9/28 majors are considered for admission using the C00 combination.

Previously, the University of Law (Hanoi National University) also announced that it would stop considering the C00 combination from the 2025 admission season, replacing it with mandatory combinations of Math or English. Specifically, with the admission method using high school graduation exam scores, this school only uses 6 combinations including C03 (Math, Literature, History), A07 (Math, History, Geography), A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English), D14 (Literature, History, English), D15 (Literature, Geography, English).

The Academy of Journalism and Communication also announced a major change when in the 2025 admission season, the school will not consider the C00 combination in two popular methods: considering academic records and considering high school graduation exam scores.

Although the Academy still considers the C00 combination in the admission method combined with international certificates, it can be seen that the rate of using this traditional combination has decreased sharply.

This year, Hanoi University of Procuracy also removed the C00 block combination in university admissions.
