Forest rangers of Nhu Thanh Forest Protection Department inspect forest fire prevention and fighting work in Ben Sung town.
“The Forest Protection Department of Nhu Thanh district and local authorities have reviewed 4,876.44 hectares of forest at high risk of fire to implement forest protection (FPP), forest fire prevention and fighting (FFF). The focus is on reducing flammable materials under the canopy of key areas; organizing forest fire fighting (FF) command, forest fire patrols and watch; strictly managing the causes of forest fires. The Forest Protection Department of Nhu Thanh has advised the District Party Committee to issue documents to effectively implement Directive No. 13-CT/TW dated January 12, 2017 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in forest management, protection and development. Advised the District People's Committee and directed forest rangers to advise local Party committees and authorities to review and supplement the FPP plan according to the "4 on-site" motto; developed FPP combat plans and FPP combat maps to proactively respond to forest fire situations.
Especially in temples, pagodas, spiritual places of worship such as Phu Na, Am Tien, there are pine forests, high mountainous terrain, flammable materials under the forest canopy are thick layers of ground cover, the ability to catch fire quickly and the speed of spreading large fires will be very difficult for fire fighting if a forest fire occurs, the unit has strengthened the direction of local forest rangers to coordinate with functional units to regularly patrol, inspect forests, organize propaganda and monitor fire use activities of local people and visitors. Assign a leader to be present here regularly to grasp the situation, together with Xuan Du BVR Station to coordinate with the forest owner (Nhu Thanh Protective Forest Management Board) and the Management Board of Phu Na Historical, Cultural and Scenic Area to proactively propagate and remind people to comply with the regulations on participating in the festival, especially burning votive papers and burning votive papers according to regulations, strictly prohibiting fire ashes from flying into the forest. Continue to implement Project 500 to receive and process information, recommendations, and proposals from the People; organize dialogues with the People about forest protection work, about forest rangers' activities at the grassroots level... Build forest protection teams at the grassroots level, especially focusing on key areas at risk of losing forest security" - Mr. Lai The Chien, Head of the Forest Protection Department of Nhu Thanh, shared.
In the area, there are some entertainment and resort areas located deep in the forest. On hot days, many people often go into the forest to avoid the sun, especially teenagers who often gather in groups to camp, visit, organize cooking, and carelessly use fire, which can cause a very high risk of forest fires. The Forest Protection Department has coordinated with schools and localities to carry out a high-level propaganda campaign so that students and people understand the great benefits of forests for human life and socio -economic development, raise awareness, sense of responsibility, and proactively implement forest protection regulations.
During the peak of the hot weather, the forest rangers proactively coordinated with forest owners and local authorities to organize 6 forest fire watch posts in key communes. The members on duty are responsible for observing forest fires in the assigned area and neighboring areas to detect forest fires early, control people entering and leaving the forest; bring a blower to promptly extinguish a new fire in the area they are on duty; if a fire is detected in another area, they must promptly inform other posts and related units to organize inspection and extinguish the fire, not allowing the fire to spread widely. In addition to the fixed posts, the department has assigned staff to be on duty 24/24 hours at the office; organize patrols and mobile forest fire observation; inspect key forests, control, and resolutely not allow unauthorized people to enter the forest during the time of forest fire forecast level IV or higher. Proactively purchase equipment for forest fire prevention and control. Constructed nearly 2km of PCCCR road in the area of Mau Lam and Xuan Thai communes. Repaired 7.6km of firebreaks from previous years. Instructed people to clear and handle combustible materials under the forest canopy by controlled pre-burning of nearly 22.04ha...
The entire existing forest area of Nhu Thanh district is safely protected, without forest fires or illegal deforestation. The depleted natural forest area has been and is being restored and developed.
