On April 26, the 37th Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) Cup National Cycling Race - Ton Dong A 2025 continued with the 133 km long 21st stage, from Bien Hoa City ( Dong Nai ) to My Tho City (Tien Giang). The race took place in constantly changing weather conditions, from cool to heavy rain in Cu Chi District (Ho Chi Minh City), then hot when entering Long An.
Immediately after the start, a series of attacks were launched. A group of 5 riders successfully escaped but were not in the group competing for the final ranking, so the large group behind only controlled the safe distance. Sprint 1 was held on Provincial Road 8 (Cu Chi) and witnessed the victory of Tran Khanh Duy (620 Chau Thoi - Vinh Long ), surpassing Nguyen Pham Quoc Khang and Nguyen Truc Xinh.
After the sprint, the larger pack quickly caught up with the front group. The attacks continued as a group of 12 riders outside the overall classification opened up a gap of 1 minute 30 seconds, but were caught after more than 20 km.
An impressive individual effort belonged to Quang Van Cuong (Military Zone 7) when he broke away from the group, leading nearly 20 km to win Sprint 2 (Thu Thua, Long An ). However, more than 30 km from the finish line, team 620 Vinh Long proactively pulled the group together to create a position for "spearhead" Nick Kergozou to sprint.
Not letting his teammates down, the New Zealand racer had a strong sprint, finishing first amid the cheers of the My Tho audience. This was the 8th time Kergozou won a stage at this year's tournament, thereby firmly consolidating the title of green jersey "sprint king". The second place went to Nguyen Van Binh (TPHCM New Group), followed by Tran Tuan Kiet (Dopagan Dong Thap).
After 21 stages, the Yellow Jersey still belongs to Mikhail Fokin (Loc Troi Group An Giang); Green Jersey: Nick Kergozou (620 Agriculture - Vinh Long); Orange Jersey: Nguyen Hoang Sang (Le Fruit Maxxis Dong Nai); White Jersey: Pham Le Xuan Loc (Military Zone 7); Red Dot Jersey: Savva Novikov (Binh Minh Plastics - Binh Duong).
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sang - Director of Hanh Hieu Steel Company Limited, distributor of Ton Dong A - awarded scholarships worth 20 million VND to students in difficult circumstances in My Tho City.
Tomorrow, April 27, the racers will enter stage 22, 117 km long, from My Tho to Can Tho City - one of the decisive stages before the final stage of the tournament.
