The bright spot in the province's economic picture over the past 5 years is the strong growth of the industrial sector. With an average production value growth rate of 17.1% per year, the industrial sector has affirmed its pivotal role in the province's development process. It is expected that by the end of 2025, the industrial production value will reach an impressive figure of VND 24,019 billion, 3.17 times higher than in 2020, contributing nearly 34% to GRDP and 3.9% to the overall growth of the province.
In that bright picture, renewable energy is a bright spot that not only brings clean energy but also maximizes the potential and advantages of the sunny and windy land. The policy of building Ninh Thuan into an energy and renewable energy center of the country has become a vivid reality. Comrade Ho Xuan Ninh, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: By the end of 2024, Ninh Thuan had 57 wind and solar power projects with a total capacity of nearly 3,750 MW in commercial operation, generating an electricity output of over 7.6 billion kWh. It is expected that by the end of 2025, this number will increase to about 4,350 MW, with an output of about 9.2 billion kWh, nearly double that of 2020 and accounting for 18% of the country's total installed electricity capacity. The renewable energy sector not only provides clean electricity but also contributes significantly to the provincial budget, accounting for an estimated 24.6% of GRDP and over 25% of total budget revenue. The power transmission infrastructure has also been invested in a synchronous and modern manner, with key projects such as the 500kV Van Phong - Vinh Tan line, the 220kV Ninh Phuoc - 500kV Thuan Nam double-circuit line, the 220kV Nha Trang - Thap Cham line... Ninh Thuan is also actively implementing other dynamic energy projects such as Ca Na LNG power, Phuoc Hoa and Bac Ai pumped storage hydropower plants, and building a project to establish an inter-regional renewable energy industrial and service center, opening up new development opportunities in the future.
Along with the strong development of the energy sector, the province also pays special attention to investing in and completing the infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters. Currently, the province has formed 4 industrial parks and 4 industrial clusters with a total area of over 1,870 hectares. The average occupancy rate by 2024 is 28% and is expected to increase to 50% by 2025, creating stable jobs for about 6,700 workers. The key economic zone projects in the South such as Ca Na General Port and Ca Na LNG project are being accelerated, promising to create new breakthroughs in the development of the province's marine economy. The processing and manufacturing industry has also had positive changes in the direction of modernity, environmental friendliness, associated with local raw materials and products. Many new projects have attracted investment such as factories processing aloe vera, seaweed, soft drinks, textiles, lubricants, wood products, bio-charcoal...
In particular, the province is attracting the attention of investors in the fields of deep processing industry, supporting industry, new industry and high technology such as green technology complex and post-salt chemicals, hydrogen production, research and manufacture of renewable energy equipment... The province also focuses on maintaining and developing traditional craft villages associated with tourism , contributing to increasing people's income.
In the coming time, Ninh Thuan will continue to promote industrial development, focusing on digital transformation, green transformation, industrial restructuring towards modernization, improving productivity, quality and competitiveness. The province strives to achieve an average industrial production value growth rate of 17-18%/year, increasing the proportion of industry in GRDP to 40%. With that goal, the province will continue to focus on developing energy breakthroughs, building the province into a center of energy and renewable energy of the whole country, forming an industrial center, inter-regional renewable energy services, focusing on green industry - Net Zero, semiconductor chip manufacturing center, AI technology, national and regional data center. The province is also preparing conditions to implement the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project. In the field of processing and manufacturing industry, the province prioritizes the development of industries using modern, clean, green and environmentally friendly technology, developing metallurgy and supporting industries serving the energy sector; speeding up the completion of infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters and increasing the occupancy rate.
With clear strategic directions and steady progress, Ninh Thuan is striving to become a dynamic and modern industrial center of the country. The strong transformation in the industrial sector not only brings impressive growth figures but also creates new opportunities, improves the quality of life for people and opens up a promising future for this land full of potential.
