Hourly efforts at Dung Quat Oil Refinery maintenance site

( Quang Ngai Newspaper) - Up to now, Dung Quat Oil Refinery (NMLD) has been performing the 5th general maintenance for more than 10 days. According to the plan, the maintenance period is 48 days. However, with the hourly efforts of each worker, engineer, and expert on the construction site, the expected maintenance period will be only 46 days.

A representative of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company ( BSR ) said that there are currently nearly 6,000 people working at the 5th general maintenance site of Dung Quat Refinery. Working hours have also changed compared to previous maintenance times. Mornings start from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; afternoons from 1 p.m. and end at 6 p.m. To ensure convenience in arriving and leaving the construction site on time, BSR has arranged reasonable entrances and exits for nearly 6,000 people, without congestion even during rush hour. Regarding compliance with labor safety during maintenance, Head of BSR Environmental Safety Department Nguyen Quang Hung said that during the work process, there are many supervisors at various locations, ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations.

According to BSR General Director Bui Ngoc Duong, the goal of the 5th general maintenance of Dung Quat Refinery is to maintain continuous operation for 4 years, instead of 3.5 years as before. This also means to coincide with and connect with the project to upgrade and expand the plant in 2028. Moreover, quality maintenance to meet the requirements of continuing to extend the operating time, allowing the plant's operating capacity to increase to 120%. "Regarding the maintenance time, BSR calls on each officer, expert, and engineer working on the construction site to compete and make efforts every hour to shorten it by 2 more days, that is, to reduce the maintenance time from 48 days to 46 days," said Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong.

According to Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong, compared to previous maintenances, this maintenance is a new challenge. That is to shorten the time, increase the quality of operation and the life of the factory. Therefore, the maintenance work must optimize each item, racing against time. Currently, the general contractor and contractors are very determined. The preparation of materials and construction methods are all proactive, complete, and meet the requirements. "Shortening 1 day of maintenance means putting the factory back into operation 1 day earlier. With the current world oil price, the factory's operating output for 1 day can bring in revenue of 450 billion VND", said Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong. Currently, BSR has a plan to import crude oil ready to operate immediately after the maintenance is completed.

During the visit to encourage BSR's staff, workers, engineers, experts and contractors participating in the maintenance of Dung Quat Oil Refinery on March 22, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien acknowledged BSR's efforts in preparing for maintenance carefully, scientifically and with clearly set goals. "Each maintenance is a time to verify and shine a light on BSR to innovate, improve and be more creative, bringing quality and safety in the operation of the plant. Based on extensive experience and sharp intelligence, the provincial leaders believe and expect that during the 5th general maintenance of Dung Quat Oil Refinery, BSR and contractors will create a new miracle," said Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien.
