Sustainable green areas
Mr. Truong Van Tung - Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association said that as of September 30, the association had 124 association bases, 2,867 branches and 348,600 members, accounting for approximately 70% of agricultural production households. "Although the proportion is not too prominent in the scale of the economy , the role of farmers and association work is very important. Farmers are the subject of the countryside, the main producers in agriculture as well as in building new rural areas. Lam Dong farmers aim to build sustainable agriculture, modern countryside and progressive, civilized farmers", Mr. Truong Van Tung informed.
With the characteristics of a province with both highlands and plains, Lam Dong agriculture with strong, export-oriented crops such as coffee, tea, dragon fruit, durian, rice and fruit trees has created a unique ecological area, competitive in the market. Farmers who directly produce in the fields have contributed greatly to creating famous agricultural export products of Lam Dong. By September 2025, Lam Dong exported nearly 600 million USD worth of agricultural products to 32 markets worldwide .
“Lam Dong farmers are highly appreciated for their change in farming habits. People have understood and practiced good agricultural production, sustainable agriculture, with safe production processes, towards environmental and ecological protection. With the support of the state, farmers have contributed greatly to a healthy and progressive new countryside,” affirmed the Chairman of the Provincial Farmers’ Association. Lam Dong currently has 107,217 hectares of high-tech agricultural production area, with 16 crop production areas recognized for applying high-tech agriculture and this number continues to increase every year.
New opportunities
“After the merger, the scale of Lam Dong agriculture is quite large and we have to self-evaluate and reorient the association's activities in the coming time to adapt to the changing requirements of the market economy,” Mr. Truong Van Tung shared. Therefore, the Congress of Farmers' Associations at commune, ward and special economic zones of Lam Dong province is being held in October 2025 with requirements very close to the change in tasks. Mr. Tung said that starting from October 2025, communes, wards and special economic zones in the whole province will actively carry out the congress, towards the Provincial Farmers' Association Congress and the Vietnam Farmers' Association Congress, term 2025 - 2030.
Mr. Truong Van Tung said that the Provincial Farmers' Association determined that this congress aims to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation in a proactive, creative, practical and effective manner, meeting the development requirements in the new era. The association's work will aim at independence, enhancing the initiative of the grassroots, actively contributing to the development of agriculture, building new rural areas, civilized urban areas and building a strong Vietnamese peasant class.
“We must ensure a process for cadre work, with a reasonable structure and quantity, with inheritance and development, impartiality and objectivity in selection; focus on discovering and introducing typical factors, especially young cadres, female cadres, ethnic minority cadres, competent and prestigious cadres; pay special attention to cadres who have grown from the practical experience of the peasant movement, from the grassroots, and have scientific and technological qualifications,” Mr. Truong Van Tung added.
The Provincial Farmers’ Association is facing a strong transformation, adapting to a new operating model in a period of many changes. Challenges as well as opportunities are being posed to officials and members of the Lam Dong Farmers’ Association determined to rise up in the new period.
