People's Artist Thanh Dien and writer Bich Ngan sit on the hot seat of the Cai Luong Theater Arts Council

(NLDO) - The 2024 National Cai Luong Festival takes place from October 25 to November 15 at the Can Tho City Cultural Center.

On the evening of October 25, the National Cai Luong Festival 2024 held a lively opening ceremony. The National Cai Luong Festival is chaired by the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), in coordination with the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City and related agencies and units.

The Art Council received flowers from the leaders of Can Tho City.

The 2024 National Cai Luong Festival will have the participation of 1,200 actors from 29 domestic and non-public art units nationwide. The National Cai Luong Festival's Art Council consists of 7 members: author Nguyen Sy Chuc - Chairman of the Jury, author Nguyen Thang Vinh, People's Artist Vuong Ha, People's Artist and Painter Doan Bang, Master Huynh Khai, People's Artist Thanh Dien and writer Bich Ngan.

After the opening ceremony, Tay Do Theater (Can Tho) performed the work "Chat Ngoc - Cam Thi Giang".

The Organizing Committee of the 2024 National Cai Luong Festival said that the National Cai Luong Festival aims to contribute to preserving and promoting the value of Vietnam's traditional art form, especially Cai Luong art in the current integration period.

The festival is also an opportunity for cultural management agencies and leaders of art units to search for and discover promising young talents, from which to have training plans.

“I am very happy to join the Jury this time. The festival is an opportunity to nurture and orient the development of art units in line with the country's traditional art; at the same time, it is an opportunity for artists to express, contribute and bring new winds to the art of reformed opera” - People's Artist Thanh Dien expressed.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong said: "The National Cai Luong Festival is an opportunity for cultural management agencies and leaders of art units to search for and discover promising young talents; from there, plan training, fostering, and development orientation in accordance with the country's traditional art; contributing to maintaining and developing this precious traditional art form."

The National Cai Luong Festival is a regular activity organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Participants include professional Cai Luong art units, both public and private; and central and local art units.

This is a meaningful artistic activity, creating conditions for veteran artists and young actors to shine and contribute to the audience with dedicated roles.
