At midnight, a long line of cars inched away from the capital.

To avoid traffic jams on the first day of the April 30 - May 1 holiday, many people chose to return home at midnight, but the gateway to Hanoi was still congested.

At 9:00 p.m. on April 29, the elevated Ring Road 3 towards the gateway to the capital (section through Thanh Tri district, Hanoi ) was in a state of prolonged traffic congestion.

There were up to 3 rows of cars moving at speeds of 10 - 20 km/h. Many drivers said that due to concerns about traffic congestion tomorrow morning (April 30), they decided to return home at night.

On the lower road (section through Nghiem Xuan Yem street), many people ride motorbikes on the sidewalk to avoid traffic jams.

In front of Muong Thanh Hotel (Dai Kim Ward, Hoang Mai District), a long line of people are still waiting for buses to return to their hometowns.

Ms. Nguyen Mai Thanh (from Nghe An ) said she took the opportunity to travel at night to save time, but encountered traffic jams and waited for 45 minutes without getting on the bus.

In front of Nuoc Ngam Bus Station (Hoang Mai District), there were many passengers waiting for the bus. Many buses picked up passengers along the way, making the traffic jam worse.

Traffic Police Team No. 14 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) has arranged officers and soldiers to work all night to regulate traffic.

The later it gets, the more vehicles there are on the way to Phap Van - Cau Gie highway.

Traffic congestion on the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway stretched for more than 5km in both directions, from the entrance to the expressway and to the elevated Ring Road 3.

By 11 p.m., the number of vehicles on the highway continued to increase.

A representative of the Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police, said that traffic volume is still high on National Highway 1A (section through Thuong Tin district), the unit has arranged officers and soldiers to be on duty all night to direct and regulate traffic.
