Every Monday morning, students of the Provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities dress up in traditional costumes to attend the flag-raising ceremony and weekly activities. In addition to regular classes, the school also organizes classes in Xoe dance and "Solidarity Dance", typical dances of the Thai people, for students. Up to now, 100% of the students in the school have mastered the traditional dances of the ethnic groups. Notably, in the recent event celebrating the 130th anniversary of the founding of Son La province, more than 100 students of the school were honored to participate in art performances, contributing to honoring the cultural beauty of Son La ethnic groups on the province's big stage.

As a locality rich in cultural identity with 6 ethnic groups living together, in recent times, schools in Chieng La commune have always focused on educating students about traditional culture in many rich and creative forms. At Tong Co Primary School, each classroom has a "Local Corner", decorated by teachers and students with familiar objects associated with the lives of the Thai ethnic group, such as Pieu scarves, bamboo baskets, brocade looms, stilt house models... to help students feel closer, proud and understand more about their ethnic culture. In order to carry out the tasks of the school year, the Department of Education and Training has directed schools to promote the movement "Friendly school - active students", maintain the teaching of local education subjects, with appropriate content; each semester organizes 2-3 extracurricular topics related to national culture. The education sector also encourages schools to establish and maintain cultural and sports clubs, creating an environment for students to exchange, practice life skills, develop comprehensively in intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, ethics and lifestyle, contributing to the prevention of social evils.
