Construction of 8 boarding schools in border areas started simultaneously

On October 24, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting to deploy investment in the construction of primary and secondary boarding schools in border communes. The meeting was attended by leaders of relevant departments and branches. The meeting was held in person and online in 13 border communes of the province.

Implementing the policy of investing in building schools for border communes, Son La province focused on directing and mobilizing resources to implement the project of building a primary and secondary boarding school in 13 border communes. The Provincial People's Committee has issued many important documents such as: Decision to establish and add members to the Steering Committee for project implementation; Plan No. 207/KH-UBND dated October 9, 2025 to implement the "Campaign to build schools for border communes"; Decision to assign investors and apply special mechanisms to ensure implementation progress...

Leaders of the Department of Education and Training reported on the progress of school construction investment.

To date, 13/13 communes have completed the master plan for construction; 12/13 communes have completed the work of measuring, counting assets, verifying land origin and publicizing the compensation plan for site clearance. It is expected that by the end of October 25, all communes will be eligible to pay compensation to the people. Investors are completing the feasibility study report to submit for project appraisal and approval before October 30.

The province has organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of an inter-level boarding school in 3 communes: Phieng Pan, Chieng Khuong and Muong Leo; 8 communes are expected to start construction on October 30. Long Sap commune was selected to hold the nationwide groundbreaking ceremony under the direction of the Prime Minister on November 2, 2025.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Nguyen Minh Tien requested localities to complete all site clearance work before October 30; investors to urgently complete documents, submit for appraisal and approval of projects in accordance with regulations, ensuring the overall progress of the province. Investors should select contractors with sufficient capacity and experience; discuss carefully with construction units before signing contracts; develop detailed plans and progress charts, and send them to the Steering Committee for monitoring and urging implementation. For the groundbreaking ceremony in Long Sap commune, the Provincial Police were assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to develop a detailed scenario, carefully prepare for welcoming delegates, and ensure absolute safety for the event.
