Successfully raised a 24-week-old baby weighing 600 grams

On October 26, the Quang Ngai Province Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital successfully treated a 24-week-old newborn weighing 600 grams. The baby was discharged from the hospital weighing 1.6 kg.

On August 4, pregnant woman D. (Ba To commune, Ba To district, Quang Ngai province) went into labor and gave birth to a newborn baby weighing 600 grams, gestational age of only 24 weeks. Quang Ngai Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital transferred the mother and baby to the neonatal resuscitation unit of the Neonatal Pediatrics Department.

The baby is only 24 weeks old, 600 grams, and is being raised in an incubator by doctors and nurses.

The Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital recorded this as the smallest case in terms of gestational age and weight that the Neonatal Pediatrics Department has ever received. Doctors and nurses actively treated and provided special care, incubator, intravenous feeding, respiratory support, and antibiotic treatment.

After 73 days of intensive treatment, the baby had good reflexes, weighed 1.6 kg, still had non-invasive respiratory support and was discharged from the hospital.
