The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has recently issued an official conclusion on the progress of the My Thuy intersection (Thu Duc City), one of the city's key infrastructure projects. Accordingly, specific completion timelines have been set for the remaining items.

Specifically, the right turn from Dong Van Cong Street to Vo Chi Cong Street and the turn from Dong Van Cong Street to Nguyen Thi Dinh Street are required to be completed before January 31, 2026. The remaining turns along with Ky Ha 4 Bridge are expected to be completed in February 2026. The ultimate goal is to complete and put the entire project into operation before April 30, 2026.

To ensure progress, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned the Traffic Department to urgently carry out necessary legal procedures, and at the same time direct the acceleration of construction, striving to disburse 100% of the assigned construction capital in 2025.

Modern 3-storey scale and design

The My Thuy Interchange Project is designed with a scale of 3 floors to resolve traffic conflicts at the intersection of major routes including Vo Chi Cong (Ring Road 2), Dong Van Cong and Nguyen Thi Dinh. This is the gateway to Cat Lai Port, an area with a very large volume of container trucks and trucks.

Main items of the project include:

  • The main overpass on Vo Chi Cong Street with 8 lanes.
  • Underpass turn left from Vo Chi Cong street to Cat Lai for 2 lanes.
  • Overpass turn left from Cat Lai direction to Phu My bridge for 2 lanes.
  • Ky Ha 3 Bridge with 8 lanes.
  • Ky Ha 4 Bridge for the direction from Vo Chi Cong turn right to Cat Lai with 3 lanes.
  • Road branches under the bridge to separate two-wheeled vehicles.

Investment phase and completed items

The project is divided into 3 investment phases. To date, some items of phase 1 and 2 have been completed and put into use since the beginning of 2019, contributing to reducing traffic pressure. These projects include a left-turn underpass, a 4-lane overpass on Ring Road 2, Ky Ha 3 Bridge (left branch) and My Thuy 3 Bridge (6 lanes).

Phase 3, which is being implemented, will complete the remaining items such as the right branch of the overpass on Ring Road 2 and the right branch of Ky Ha 3 Bridge, each item has 4 lanes.

Total investment capital and site clearance work

The total investment of the entire My Thuy intersection project is 3,449 billion VND, divided into two component projects:

  • Component project 1 (Construction and installation): Total investment capital of VND 1,826 billion.
  • Component project 2 (Compensation, site clearance and resettlement): Total investment capital of VND 1,623 billion.

To implement the project, the city needs to reclaim a total area of ​​16.6 hectares of land, affecting 195 households. The site clearance work is being coordinated by relevant units to hand over to the construction unit on schedule.

Strategic importance to the Eastern gateway

The completion of the entire My Thuy interchange is of great importance, helping to resolve the serious traffic congestion at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, especially on the routes leading to Cat Lai port. The project will improve the capacity of freight and passenger transport, contributing to promoting socio -economic development.

When completed, this project will be synchronously connected with a series of other infrastructure projects in the area such as the expansion of Nguyen Thi Dinh, Nguyen Duy Trinh, Luong Dinh Cua streets, Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port route, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway and An Phu intersection, creating a complete and modern traffic network.
