On the afternoon of April 24, Mr. Le Vuong Ngoc (born in 1993, in My An commune, Phu My district, Binh Dinh province), while checking the fish pond in Xuan Binh village (My An commune), discovered an animal falling into the pond.

Mr. Ngoc caught this strange animal and brought it to the lake guardhouse. After learning about it, he found out that it was a pangolin - a rare, precious, and endangered wild animal. Mr. Ngoc contacted the Phu My District Forest Protection Department to hand it over and protect it.

The authorities handed over a pangolin - a rare wild animal listed in the Vietnam Red Book and the World Red Book, handed over by Mr. Le Thanh Binh (Phuoc My commune, Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province) to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of the Biological Garden of Cuc Phuong National Park on the afternoon of May 10. Recently, Mr. Le Thanh Binh (born in 1982, in hamlet 4, Thanh Long village, Phuoc My commune, Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province), when returning from work on the evening of May 7, passing a stream in quarter 8, Bui Thi Xuan ward (Quy Nhon city), also saw a pangolin running across the road.

Knowing that this is an endangered, rare wild animal listed in the Red Book, he captured it and handed it over to the Tuy Phuoc - Quy Nhon City Forest Protection Department.

In early 2024, Phu Cat District Forest Protection Department also received 1 loris, a rare forest animal, a wild animal listed in the Red Book in group IB, weighing 0.2 kg, voluntarily handed over by a local person.

According to statistics in the past 5 years, the Tuy Phuoc - Quy Nhon City Inter-District Forest Protection Department (Binh Dinh Province) has received 15 times wild animals and forest animals voluntarily handed over by organizations and individuals with a total of 21 wild animals, including 14 endangered and rare animals.

Since the beginning of 2024, the Tuy Phuoc - Quy Nhon City Inter-District Forest Protection Department has received a total of 8 rare wild animals and forest animals 6 times, including: 1 monocled cobra, 1 gray-shanked douc langur, 1 long-tailed macaque, 4 slow loris, 1 Javan pangolin.

According to Mr. Le Duc Sau, Head of the Forest Protection Department of Binh Dinh province, after receiving wild animals from people, the forest protection units report to the Department and hand over the animals to a number of companies and centers according to regulations for rescue, care, raising and conservation.

Mr. Sau acknowledged that the increasing number of wild animals and rare wild animals voluntarily handed over by people shows the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization work among people, which has contributed to changes in awareness and actions of not hunting, buying, selling, and illegally storing, and has strengthened the protection of endangered, precious, and rare wild animals in recent times.
