People spreading the dream of escaping poverty in the border areas

With his dedication and heart for the community, Mr. Goang strives to overcome difficulties to develop his family's economy and spread the desire for change to people of all ethnic groups.

Born in Lao Xa Phinh (old Tua Chua district), in 1989, Mr. Ho Chu Goang and his family moved to De Tinh 2 village to start a business with countless hardships, the land was only barren hills, rocks, weeds growing everywhere, the family had many children, and there was a lack of food all year round. Many times he thought about returning to his hometown.

But with the thought of “having to stay here after leaving”, determined to devote all his efforts to improving the barren land, Mr. Goang started to dig each tree stump, improve each plot of land. Having saved a little capital, he bought a few buffaloes and cows to raise; during the day he worked in the fields, at night he took care of the livestock. The land did not disappoint him, from the few initial breeding buffaloes and cows, he multiplied the herd, keeping the females for reproduction. To help the livestock grow quickly, he always proactively ensured enough sources of green roughage and refined foods such as corn flour and rice bran.

During the process of raising livestock, Mr. Goang always cleans the barn, ensures coolness in the summer, keeps it warm in the winter and regularly vaccinates all types of animals to prevent diseases. From raising livestock in the form of free-range farming, he has now built the largest farm in Si Pa Phin commune; at one point, the total number of livestock was more than 100. Not stopping there, he also actively reclaimed 4.2 hectares of terraced fields, dug ponds to raise fish, diversified production models, bringing in an income of more than 400 million VND/year.

From a poor farmer, Mr. Goang has now risen to become the owner of a large farm in Si Pa Phin. In October 2024, he was honored to be recognized as a good farmer and business member nationwide; in September 2025, he was recognized by the Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province as a typical example, with many contributions to local economic development.

Mr. Ho Chu Goang shared: When I started building the economy, I only hoped to escape poverty and have the conditions to take care of my family and children. In the coming time, I will actively participate with the local government to guide the people to develop the economy so that Si Pa Phin can have more households escape poverty and many good farmers contribute to building their homeland.

Vice Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Si Pa Phin commune commented: Mr. Ho Chu Goang is a typical example of the spirit of overcoming difficulties, daring to think, daring to do. From a poor household, thanks to his strong will and hard work, he has built the largest livestock farm in the commune. Not only enriching himself, he is also always willing to share his experiences, support people in the village to develop livestock, actively contributing to the work of hunger eradication, poverty reduction and new rural construction of the locality.

Mr. Ho Chu Goang's journey of overcoming difficulties is a testament to the strong will, persistent working spirit and legitimate desire to get rich of the highland farmers. From the barren and rocky land, Mr. Goang has "sown" the seeds of prosperity and the dream of escaping poverty to many ethnic people in the area, thereby arousing the desire for change, dedication, and contribution to protecting the Fatherland's border areas.
