Prosecuted two suspects in smuggling case, seized 114 motorbikes

On February 25, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police announced that it had initiated a case and prosecuted Ho Van Duc (born in 1992, residing in Hon Queo Hamlet, Hon Dat Commune) and Danh Phuong Nam (born in 1992, residing in Group 9, Thach Dong Quarter, Ha Tien Ward, An Giang Province) to investigate the act of smuggling.

In 2022, defendant Ho Van Duc went to Cambodia to do business and saw many used motorbikes imported from Japan, such as: Honda Cub, CD, Dream, Wave and some rare types of motorbikes that are popular with Vietnamese people.

Taking advantage of this need, Duc created social media accounts including "JP Duc" (Zalo, Facebook), "JP Duc Vlog of used Japanese cars" (TikTok), "Duc Vlog specializing in used Japanese, Cambodian, and Thai cars" (YouTube) to post pictures and promotional videos and find buyers in Vietnam.

The buyer was required to transfer a deposit of 10% to 20% of the car's value to the defendant Duc's account. The transportation of the car from Cambodia to Vietnam was done directly by the defendant Duc or by the defendant Danh Phuong Nam, then sent through a freight forwarder or transport company to deliver to the customer.

The Provincial Police Investigation Agency has recovered 114 motorbikes of various types worth more than 3 billion VND. The case is currently under further investigation to be handled according to the provisions of the law.
