According to RT, on May 30, President Trump accused China of violating the tariff agreement that the two sides reached earlier this month, increasing tensions between the world's two largest economies .
Under the agreement announced on May 12 after breakthrough talks in Geneva, Switzerland, the US and China agreed to suspend most new tariffs imposed since early April until further negotiations. Accordingly, both sides pledged to cancel tariff increases imposed since April 8, while maintaining a basic 10% tariff on each other's imports.

However, on May 30, President Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform: "It may not be surprising to some that China has completely violated the agreement with us."
The White House boss did not give details but said China was "in serious economic danger" due to tariffs, before Washington intervened with what he called a "quick deal".
“I saw what was happening and didn’t like it, for them, not for us,” Trump wrote.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer told CNBC on May 30 that China had not removed some non-tariff barriers as outlined in the deal. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also expressed concern, saying he hoped talks would resume in the coming weeks.
Multiple news outlets reported this week that the Trump administration has ordered U.S. companies to stop shipping high-end goods to China, including chip design software and specialty chemicals. Experts warn that the move could further escalate tensions with Beijing.
Meanwhile, Beijing called on Washington to "immediately correct its wrongdoings, end discriminatory restrictions on China, and jointly uphold the consensus reached at the high-level talks in Geneva."
