(Dan Tri) - Former US President Donald Trump recounted for the first time the details of the attempted assassination while he was playing golf in Florida on September 15.

"I was playing golf with some of my friends, it was a very peaceful Sunday morning, the weather was beautiful, everything was beautiful, it was a great place. All of a sudden we heard gunshots in the air and I guess maybe 4 or 5, it sounded like bullets," former President Donald Trump shared on September 16.

"The Secret Service knew right away it was a bullet. They grabbed me right away and probably Steve did the same. Steve Witkoff, a great friend of mine," Trump said.

"We moved in a group, got in the car together and moved pretty fast. I was with an agent and that agent did a great job. I would have loved to have gotten that last shot, but we decided to leave," Trump recalled.

Mr Trump also recounted how the agent saw the gun barrel of the attacker through the bushes.

"The agent started shooting into the barrel, shooting into the bushes. You could only see the barrel. Pretty cool, right? You could only see the barrel. Based on that, the agent started shooting and ran toward the target and fired a lot. Those are the shots that we heard, and the other guy didn't have a chance to fire," Trump added.

Mr Trump then described how security forces were able to apprehend the gunman with the help of a witness who saw the suspect running out of the bushes and taking pictures of his car. Mr Trump praised the witness.

"A civilian did an extraordinary job. A woman. How many people had the quickness to follow the suspect and take a picture of the back of his car. Based on that picture, they knew the license plate number, which was also the key to finding the suspect. Once they had the license plate number, they had all kinds of technology to be able to pinpoint the exact location of this car. I never knew technology like that existed. And they located him on the highway," Mr. Trump recounted.

According to Mr. Trump, this was an "unexpected" incident, but "everything went well and the Secret Service did a great job". "They took that man to jail and hopefully he will be there for a long time. A dangerous man, a very dangerous man", Mr. Trump emphasized. Reuters cited security agency records showing that Ryan Routh's phone, the suspect in the attempted assassination of Mr. Trump, was located in the Trump International Golf Course (Florida) area from 1:59 a.m. on September 15, which means nearly 12 hours before he was discovered. According to Acting Director of the US Secret Service Ronald Rowe, Mr. Trump's trip to this golf course was not announced, but it is unclear why the suspect knew the former President would come here and decided to ambush. By early afternoon of the same day, while checking security at the golf course, an agent discovered a gun barrel protruding from the bushes outside the fence, only 300-500m from Mr. Trump. The suspect was arrested after about 40 minutes on the run. The suspect, Ryan Routh, 58, appeared in court in West Palm Beach yesterday and was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. Routh may be charged with additional crimes. It is not yet clear what Routh's motive was in trying to assassinate former President Trump. This is the second time Mr. Trump has been assassinated. The first time happened when he was campaigning in Pennsylvania. This raises concerns about the safety of the Republican presidential candidate as Election Day approaches.
