Speaking at a campaign rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania on November 3, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump focused on a number of key issues but then returned to his habit of criticizing Democratic opponents and complaining about the 2020 election, according to The Guardian .
Mr. Trump speaks in Lititz on November 3.
"We had the most secure border in the history of our country the day I left. I shouldn't have left. I mean, honestly, we did a great job," Trump said before abruptly interrupting himself.
The former White House chief also echoed debunked conspiracy theories from 2020, suggesting that voting machines would be hacked and that efforts to extend voting hours in Pennsylvania were fraudulent.
The former president also took time to criticize recent polls, notably one from the Des Moines Register in Iowa that showed him trailing Vice President Kamala Harris by 4 percentage points, despite the general consensus that Harris would probably not win the state.
According to The Guardian , Mr Trump's aides are very confident about his chances of winning, although they admit they are not really sure how the results in key states like Pennsylvania will play out. Part of that confidence is said to come from internal polls showing Mr Trump is likely to win five out of seven battleground states.
Also at the event, Mr Trump made criticisms of the media and suggested that he would not care if reporters were shot if he were assassinated again.
"In order to hit me, someone would have to shoot through fake news and I don't care too much about that because I don't care," Trump said from behind bulletproof glass as supporters laughed and jeered.
