OpenAI just signed a seven-year, $38 billion deal with Amazon Web Services to boost its computing power. The deal gives OpenAI access to hundreds of thousands of Nvidia GPUs, including the new generation GB200 and GB300 AI chips.
This is a strategic move to reduce dependence on Microsoft and diversify cloud supply. Previously, OpenAI signed a $300 billion deal with Oracle and has been partnering with Google Cloud since June.
OpenAI's total computing infrastructure spend now exceeds $1 trillion, reflecting its massive AI ambitions. Amazon shares surged on the news, while Microsoft fell slightly on concerns about losing influence. Skyrocketing global demand for Nvidia GPUs makes multiple sources of supply imperative for OpenAI.
Despite losses, OpenAI is demonstrating mature strategic thinking in the general AI race. Dear readers, please watch more videos : AI Trash Cleaning | Hanoi 18:00
